This ws my reply to your original vote on Day 1:
You did not respond to this. I’ll ask you again: does a soft claim mean that you would never vote for that person?

I’m curious about this answer also.

I know you always claim on Day 1, Idle Thoughts.
Is it most common that you claim in the first post?
Biotop, yes, it’s from memory. I never noticed any such thing myself, nor did anyone else point out such a thing. There also wasn’t any chance for him to exhibit any of the standard Detective tells, because he wouldn’t have had results on Day 1 (he would have in Night 1, but that won’t usually show up, because of the lack of voting).
I don’t think his was entirely intentional–a “Town slip,” so to speak, and as such no, I would not be voting for him after it was made.
It always depends on the nature of the claim. Some are more believable than others.

Another yucky start.
Chronos, you questioned my ideas about the D1 kills in the N1 thread. I would have to go back to remember exactly what I said, but I was, and still am, going back and forth to the role descriptions to try and remember who does what during which phase. If what I said didn’t make sense it may very well have been because I got it mixed up.
Speaking of who/what/when, the Bloodhound can track someone during the day, so it’s possible they tracked Burby (who’s role investigates during the day as well) resulting in his subsequent death during the night. I am making the assumption here that the results for Day actions are received at the start of Night. I would like to think Suburban Plankton did try to investigate on D1 so will go back to see what he posted in N1 before his untimely demise.
As I said in N1, I think ToeJam is worth taking a look at. Not necessarily because the other top vote receivers were Town, but his vote was for a Townie (Colby) and all three players that were killed during D1 voted for him. Perhaps he’s Scum and the Scum team decided one of them had something legitimate on him? It’s a weak speculation, but for now I will:
FOS ToeJam
The questions about Idle seem to mostly be based on meta information. So to continue with that trend I’m recalling a game where (I think - was a while ago) he didn’t have much interest in playing because he was Town (please correct me if I have this wrong). Could his lack of posts indicate the same here?
But soft claiming is most definitely something a Scum with a lynching bandwagon on them might try, so until Septimus fully claimed the soft claim tells us little and can, in fact, appear suspicious. I don’t really think this warrants a vote for the Captain.
Hi guys! Sorry to see you go Sbuplkty and Colby.
You forgot Lightfoot. I think both Suburban Plankton and Lightfoot are considered much greater threats than me. An anemic FOS on Chronos for conveniently forgetting to mention Lightfoot, for pretending as if there’s even a question of Suburban Plankton’s reputation surpassing mine, and for a smidge of a smudge of me. Also a side-eye to Lighfoot, because I never trust her and she is scarily good.
I agree with this, although I find Pleos multivoting to be a bit confusing.
FOS on crys75, Hal Briston, Idle Thoughts, Khameleon, precambrianmollusc and Sario.
And what happened to gnarlycharlie and manila? They are in the players list. FOS on both of them too, if they are still in the game…
ToeJam dissappearing after getting heat is suspicious. FOS on ToeJam.
Anyway:
vote TexCat
Just to start off. She first voted Normal Phase because “editing sets bad precedent”, a policy vote, then jumped on Colby11 for his slip, which turned out not to be a slip. That was more or less the end of her contributions Day 1 IMO, but for transparency’s sake, here is all her posts Day 1, with commentary:
Day 1 post 29 - Votes Normal Phase.
Day 1 post 31 - Explains vote.
Day 1 post 91 - Votes Colby.
Day 1 post 187 - Urges Patsy to claim.
Day 1 post 315 - Digs up a bunch of posts voicing “suspicions” of Colby, presumably for Drain Bead.
Day 1 post 359 - Biotop is creepy.
Day 1 post 425 - Calls vote for Angel easy, not necessarily bad.
Day 1 post 510 – Fluff.
Day 1 post 586 – Angel/rules.
Day 1 post 624 - “@Guiri”
Day 1 post 625 – Confusion.
Day 1 post 713 - Confused about Day/Night stuff.
Day 1 post 759 – Worried about Colbys silence.
Day 1 post 760 – Defends her Colby vote. She compares her vote against the Angel vote, which is now a vote for being anti-town, and not good, in her opinion.
Day 1 post 765 – Calls out Scathach for hypocrisy.
Day 1 post 788 – Lakai vote is weak? Joke or not, I can’t tell.
Day 1 post 865 – Fluff
Day 1 post 874 – Urges Patsy to claim.
Day 1 post 947 – More Colby.
Day 1 post 1269 – Apparently she found Lakai scummy after all. But Colby is more scummy.
Day 1 post 1276 – Urging for a watcher claim or crumb.
Day 1 post 1315 - OOG fluff.
No mention of ToeJam, a few contradicting mentions of Lakai and Angel, barely a mention of septimus and parked all Day on Colby.
Format shamelessly stolen from Guiri (I think?).
Also forgot to add:
I think the threshold for two lynches will be hard to reach…
Ugghhh. Also, my participation might drop a little. I have a concert to prepare for for the 26th, and classes start up next week.
I’m a she. And I am saying he claimed late (it’s usually within one of the first few posts), contributed nothing but that claim, didn’t vote yesterday, and then came in with a “policy” vote on the person who is most likely to get a bandwagon today.
Idle hates playing scum, and all of this is circumstantial evidence of being scum to me.
This is an extremely scummy post. Not because you’re voting me, because you’re indicating suspicion of Idle, saying it’s not enough to vote him (this part is fine), “carrying over” a vote from yesterday without any reasoning of why (this part may just be lazy, you may still have the same reasons), and then excusing yourself from the consequences if Idle is non-town.
FOS Zeriel.
LightFoot is a great player, but for some reason I’m sensitive to her scum tells. I can’t articulate them well, but I feel them. FWIW I have her in the almost definitely town column right now.
I agree with your TexCat analysis here, primarily because she knows Colby’s syntax and started the train on him.
Sorry to quote the same post twice to make different points.
Welcome to the game, Paul! I ping a lot of people, I’m afraid. It’s just my style.
Regarding your point, I went from general to specific: see Post 46. I expressed agreement with a vote on ToeJam, but for other reasons voted Sario.
It feels way more daunting than that, to me. Bah.
As for pointing fingers, I’ll say who I suspected from Day 1:
TexCat for the policy vote, which in my opinion was a potential way to hide motivation.
Angel for the rules issue, which in my opinion was a potential way to hide motivation.
Total Lost for, again in my opinion, trying to force a soft claim into a hard claim.
Prof. Pepperwinkle for saying that he wouldn’t post much because he would only fluff but that we should lynch other people who don’t post much.
Lakai for saying that he was trying to post in a way that wouldn’t lead to dying.
Pleonast had weird interactions with a couple of people, though it’s hard for me to capture exactly what it was that pinged me.
And essentially every person who said “Oh, X just plays that way” or “X wouldn’t do that” or similar posts.
I’m not at all sensitive to her tells, I just generally feel intimidated by her.
On your other point, I agree. She knows Colby, went ahead anyway and never commented on our doubts regarding the slip, due to foot-in-mouth syndrome or whatever it is called.
No, I said I wouldn’t post as much as usual. I was still in the top 10 posters for D1. And not everything I posted was fluff.
You’re voting for him because he didn’t do his patented pointless direct Town claim in a timely enough fashion? What, you think Idle got a scum PM, and then sat around for several days trying to work himself up the nerve to lie? Do you want to note anything else as inconsistent about his play?
To be completely honest, I was more convinced by your OMGUS vote on me yesterday and that was an argument about me and had nothing going for it other than I was a big meanie who wasn’t being generous enough with my interpretations of your words. You’re either scum grasping for straws and looking for any sort of opening, or you’re just dreadful at this.
