RULES AND REGULATIONS
Basic Setup
[ol]
[li]This is a semi-open setup. All of the Town and Scum roles and win conditions will be public knowledge at the beginning of the game. Importantly, there are no secret or hidden elements to any Town or Scum role powers or win conditions. There may be secret or hidden game mechanics known to individual Town or Scum players that are not public knowledge.[/li][li]All third party roles are closed. However, the rules shown here are absolute in all cases; no hidden element will contradict or supersede anything explicitly stated in the rules.[/li][li]Some third party players may have exclusive win conditions (ie, win conditions that preclude Town and/or Scum wins), while others may be nonexclusive (that is, able to win with any side).[/li][li]No recruitment or changes of alignment will occur at any time.[/li][/ol]
**Posting Rules
**[ol]
[li]There are no post restrictions. As long as you are alive, you may post whatever you like, wherever you like, whenever you like. You may quote your role PM, and any PM sent to you by the moderators. You may discuss strategy by Day or by Night. If you have access to outside boards, you may post to them on any subject at any time. If someone claims a post restriction of any kind, they are lying; lynch them.[/li][li]PLEASE NOTE: You are also permitted to edit your posts. Other players may frown upon a choice to do so, but the Moderators will not intervene in any case of post editing.[/li][li]No out-of-game communication related to the game is permitted among living players (that is, no PMing or e-mailing or using Facebook or complex codes based on banging together coconuts). [/li][li]In a game of this size, participation will be rigorously policed. Any player who goes a full Day-Night cycles without contributing to the thread will be replaced (if it is before Day Four and a replacement is available) or Mod-killed (if it is after Dawn of Day Four or if no replacement can be found). Obviously, exceptions will be made for unusual circumstances; all Mod-kills are at the absolute discretion of the Moderators. Players who are Mod-killed are considered to have lost the game no matter what else happens.[/li][/ol]
**Day and Night
**[ol]
[li]Every Day will begin exactly at 3:00PM Eastern Standard Time (noon Pacific) on a Tuesday, and end at exactly 3:00PM Eastern Standard Time (noon Pacific) on a Sunday. Each 5-day Day will be followed by a 2-day Night. The length of the Day and Night are fixed and cannot be shortened by any in-game mechanism. However, the moderators reserve the right to adjust the length of a given Day and/or Night if out of game circumstances warrant.[/li][li]The game includes both Night and Day powers. Orders for actions must be submitted to all three moderators before the 3:00PM EST deadline. Because of the large size of the game, absolutely no late orders will be accepted.[/li][li]Powers will always resolve at the Dusk or Dawn of the Day or Night, respectively, on which they are used; no powers will ever resolve in the middle of a Day or Night.[/li][/ol]
Voting
[ol]
[li]Each player may vote for one (and only one - sorry, Pleo!) player to be lynched. This is done using blue text, in the following format: vote NAF1138. [/li][li]A vote may be rescinded using red text, in the following format: unvote Mahaloth.[/li][li]A vote for a player must be preceded by an unvote using the format above (that is, no player may have two active votes at the same time). [/li][li]Again due to the large size and complexity of this game, the moderators will follow the rules related to voting absolutely. No vote or unvote will count unless formatted per the above, and no new vote will be counted without an unvote of any prior vote.[/li][li]There are no public or hidden powers whatsoever that affect the vote count in any way; if there is an apparent irregularity in the vote count, it is the result of moderator error.[/li][li]You may vote “No Lynch.” Please do so using purple text: vote No Lynch. [/ol][/li]**The Lynch
**[ol]
[li]At the conclusion of each Day, the player with the highest total number of votes will be lynched and removed from the game. If “No Lynch” has the highest number of votes, no player will be lynched.[/li][li]In the event of a tie, the moderators will consult Random.org. You probably want to avoid this if you can.[/li][li]Death reveals (including for lynch and Night/Day kill victims) will include the role name and alignment of the player. No additional information will be provided.[/li][/ol]
**Multi-Lynch Rules (READ THIS PART CAREFULLY!!!):
**[ol]
[li]It is possible for there to be as many as three (3) lynches in any given Day except for Day One (there can only be a single lynch on Day One). [/li][li]The available number of lynches is equal to the number of Town players who died during the preceding Night, not to exceed 3. So if two Town players are killed on Night One, then two lynches are available on Day Two. However, the number of available lynches can never exceed three under any circumstances.[/li][li]In all cases, the leading vote getter will be lynched as always. If at least 2 lynches are available on a given Day, the second-leading vote getter will also be lynched if (s)he has received more than 34% of the available votes. If at least 3 lynches are available on a given Day, the third-leading vote getter will be lynched if: (1) the second-leading vote getter is lynched; AND (2) the third-leading vote getting receives more than 10% of the available votes. [/li][li]PLEASE NOTE: If “No Lynch” is the leading vote-getter for any given Day, then no player will be lynched, even if more than 1 lynch is available and one or more players exceeds the threshold shown above.[/li][/ol]
**Win Conditions
**Win conditions will be checked in the following order every Dawn and every Dusk:
[ol]
[li]Town Wins! if all 14 Scum players are dead.[/li][li]Mafia Wins! if the total number of living Mafia is greater than or equal to 50% of the total population AND greater than the number of living Wolves.[/li][li]Wolves Win! if the total number of living Wolves is greater than or equal to 50% of the total population AND greater than the number of living Mafia.[/li][li]Third party win conditions are checked after checking all three of the above. Thus, a Town win supersedes an exclusive third party win even if both occur simultaneously.[/li][/ol]
