No, given the choice, always take the SK. Nabbing the Scum toDay or toMorrow won’t make any difference, but nabbing the SK now will mean one less death.
Plus, of course, without knowing the SK’s win condition, you don’t know how long you even can put her off.
OK, let me rephrase that. If it’s the last Scum or a SK, then kill the Scum and win the game. But it’s not the last Scum, and Town doesn’t know who the last Scum is, and they need time to figure it out. Killing the SK buys them that time.
Of course, the question is largely moot if Town gets two lynches toMorrow (I don’t know if the conditions will be met or not), because I trust that even this quiet group could pull that one off.
I’d go SK over non-last scum as well.
Removing a kill that Town doesn’t control is in the Town’s best interest. It is true that the SK could kill scum, so maybe it is a wash in the end, but I can absolutely see the reasoning for preferring getting the SK first.
There is so much wrong with Johnny Bravo’s post here. I really hope he is scum, because if he’s Town, that is just simply a terrible, terrible thing to say.
I’m also surprised that Cookies got caught by a watcher. I guess she wasn’t paying close enough attention to the existence of a Town Watcher. It seems pretty clear that the Watcher would be watching Septimus, or at least, the danger should have been too high to risk.
All in all, I’m happy to see that septimus didn’t self-protect that night. As Normal Phase explained in game, self-protecting would have been tactically wrong. Although it looks like it wouldn’t have mattered if he self-protected or not. But the decision was still sound!
Well, if he’d self-protected, he would have lived. Boozy didn’t target him because we were afraid of the Watcher, which as you say doesn’t seem like it should have been that hard to anticipate.
This whole snf-raven-Cookies dialogue is pure comedy gold.
You probably don’t want to reveal stuff like this in the forbidden thread. It’s not a huge spoiler, but the forbidden thread could still come up in searches, or a player could accidentally click on it instead of the game thread. So even though players should stay out (because of accidental spoilers, mainly, but also from a meta standpoint that seeing what non-players are saying gives them extra ideas that aren’t available as part of the game thread), there’s a chance someone could see it.
I will be the first to admit that I played this game sub-optimally. When I put my mind to it, I’m able to do things like catch Booze in a slip which lead to his lynch. When I blow things off - which I did for most of this game unfortunately - I barely have time to log in before the deadline and send in an investigation request.
That said, my decision to investigate ToeJam was precisely because he was one of the lynch leaders. At first, I didn’t trust him or his claim. That’s why I initially investigated him. Besides, if I could prove he was Town and we’re still spending time trying to lynch him, I’d have information we could use to put Town on a more productive path. If I caught him as scum, kudos!
Day 3’s second investigation of ToeJam was probably a waste. At that point, I was reasonably sure he was Town. But I figured I spent the time, so why not make extra super sure? Still, it wasn’t my best option.
I gave my reasons for Lightfoot and Lakai in thread. Were they the best choices? Unknown. But I stand by them.
Here’s a question for everyone (mods included): What power should I have picked?
If I knew then what I know now, I think Homicide Detective was the better option. I didn’t think 3rd party would play as big of a role as it’s ended up being, and the ability to investigate them would have really proved useful.
But in order for you to stop Town from lynching ToeJam you would have to claim and remove yourself from any future investigations. And if he turned out to be scum, then what would be the point if Town was going to Lynch him anyway.
Investigators should investigate players where there is little to no suspicion or happy feelings either way. Even more important is to investigate players who are likely to survive deeper into the game.
ugh! Koldanar! There is no reason to be sure that Cookies is the target of his switch. With both extra day kills and extra night kills there could be a day serial killer and a night serial killer. Koldanar may have just given himself up for no good reason. Hopefully he is right and his switch is for Cookies, but even so, someone Day killed me. No reason why that killer (whether Cookies or not) can’t kill Koldanar too.
I am of the opinion that the ‘other’ serial killer killed Hal in order to expedite the death of Cookies under the SK vs SK game scenario. Why that SK didn’t just kill Cookies directly is a mystery though. Hmmm. Maybe there isn’t another SK and Koldanar is safe. Or maybe the SK’s can’t kill each other.
At the time the concensus in the spoiled thread was that you made the best choice. In retrospect maybe you could have made different choices, but that road leads to crazy town. You chose well.
