My early demise is doubly disappointing because I managed to nab myself a Bad Guy on my Day 1 Investigation…unless I managed to Spot the Patsy, which would actually be quite a bit less likely.

For the moment, I think I’ll hang out here and play along, rather than asking to be spoiled.

The wolves have the Outrider who can kill during the day. Is it possible that Septimus protected himself, the Outrider targeted him, that bounced back to Septimus as the protector of himself, and Septimus died? Again, would this even work if Septimus is immune from Day kills?

What about this: Both the Trickster AND the Outrider targetted him?
That’s the only way I see this working and it appears a very likely scenario given the claim.

If the EMT protects himself, and is targeted by the Outrider that same Day, will the EMT be killed (as a ‘protected’ target of the Outrider), or will he be protected (as the subject of the EMT’s protection from Day Kills)?

I think, based on the specific wording involved, that a self-protecting EMT will still die to the Outrider. Let’s compare the wording on said Outrider to a killing role, AU Batman.

Outrider

“Each Day you may target any player of your choosing. If that player is under the protection of any active protecting role(s) - the EMT or Doctor Seward, for example - the player(s) doing the protecting will die. Your target will still survive any attempt on his life unless the protection is obviated in some other way.”

AU Batman

“You are a vigilante. Each night you kill someone. That’s it. Pick someone you think is anti town and kill them. You have the power and the training, oh and you have the drive too. You don’t get to not kill someone, and you aren’t suicidal so you can’t kill yourself. Make Daddy proud.”

Do you see the difference? AU Batman kills, but the Outrider doesn’t, their target just dies. That would say to me that being protected from kills doesn’t stop you from dying.

Of course, that could just be me applying Magic the Gathering wording rules to something unrelated. But it’s logical at least!

2. No - if the hitman or outrider targets a player who is not protected, nothing at all happens. Bonus fun fact: the hitman or outrider will kill a self-protecting doctor.

Though of course that does say “doctor,” not “doctor or EMT”…

In this case Doctor is shorthand for doctor style protector role a la Doctor Seward, the Wizard or the EMT. But Doctor roles off the tongue better.
