Actually, what is the etiquette for dead scum in these threads? Would it be OK for me to post who I think is Mafia (thus, obviously, revealing that they aren’t Wolves)? I just wrote a post expressing an opinion about the reactions to my death, but then figured I should delete it. Guidance?

Oh, thank god. Idle’s antics definitely made me not want to play, and reading that huge thread when you don’t want to play is no fun at all.

I would prefer it if you don’t talk about specific players in this thread. Active players should not be reading it, but you never know and I don’t want to risk it.

For what it’s worth, Idle’s screenshot did, in fact, violate the rules as they existed at the time that he made it, because it was communication with other players outside of the thread (specifically, through the site where he hosted the image).

And it’s quite gratifying to see my first two votes in the game both come up Scum at the same Dusk. Thing Fish, now that you’re dead, do you think that the “scum slip” I found from you (mixing up the way the Understudy and the Whelp work) was a genuine scum slip?

Well, I don’t think so, but then if it were, it would be to some degree subconscious, right? I was a bit rushed in compiling that list of rules, and I’m pretty sure I made some other mistakes too.

Last thought before I take a look at those spoilers: ToeJam thinks that the Scum desperately want him dead because he’s participating!? Since coming back from his nearly-deadly absence, all he’s said is “whoops, catching up” and “why is everybody voting for poor little me?”. That’s either some seriously ballsy and incomprehensible ploy, or he’s seriously deluded.

I’d like to think the former and never the latter.

I understood the whole gambit of “pretend to be a detective so the Scum will target me and waste their kills”. It’s less valuable with two Scum teams only one of which you can protect against, but I can see the basic logic. But why, if you’re pretending to be a detective, did you come out and directly say that you’re not a detective? I mean, I agree with you that there are, very rarely, occasional situations where Town should lie, but I can’t see Scum taking it as an assumption that you were lying.

Folks in the game are talking about whether a Miller is a gastard role or not, but really, if they weren’t so common as to be expected, godfathers would be even more gastard than millers. If a miller is investigated, and Town believes the investigation, then Town ends up wasting a mislynch and then the game goes on. But if a godfather is investigated, and Town believes the investigation, then the eventual Scum victory is assured (ask Storyteller about that, sometime).

Certainly, though, either is fair game when their existence is public knowledge.
