Mafia--T2: Behind the Scenes

Nothing is impossible! The real PD could be floating in the vanilla pool, waiting to get lynched, not wanting to say anything because he knows you are both scum and one must therefore be the [del]Jesper[/del] Jester.

This is the scummiest scummy scum-scum plan I’ve heard of in quite a long time.

I think it’s probably moot now because NAF says he’s got his own plan for the Nights but as I send in my pm at night to tell pede who’s vote I want to control I’d imagine I can be blocked.

And Oredigger - trying to get the vig to target a vanilla???

And very obviously scummy, it looks to me.

Ive got to be missing something for you all to hate this so much. By randomly, town, selecting both the doc and the victim there is a 31.25% chance of the vig killing a townie. Probably less because there is a 12.5% chance that the vig will chosen at random and I don’t think he can self kill.

Since we are lynching our way through the townies any way all this will do is confirm scum, shrink the vanilla pool, and force our vig to come forward and be protected. With a worse case ( we lynch town toDay and vig kills town toNight) we would then be at a vanilla pool that is 60% scum and we would know who the fourth scum is. If on the other hand we pick scum as the target (37% chance) either we gain a confirmed townie or scum dies and we know who anther scum is. The odds seem in our favor and we could make it more so if instead of picking randomly town (excluding NAF and Myself) picked who they thought was the scummiest vanilla left alive. Now with out repeating that this is a scummy idea tell me where I’m wrong.

That leaves us a 31.25% chance of losing TWO townies.

Plus the loss of a confirmable role.

Your logic is cheese. Swiss cheese.

So your assuming that our doc is so busy protecting power roles that he couldn’t spend one night to keep our vig from sucide? There is no way we would lose two townies and so of would end up a 1 for 1 trade which considering the town numbers is a great deal.

So then, you say you want the vig to claim?

Time once again to Vote!

My business vote Yesterday is found in post [post=10214481]857[/post]. In it I set forth my reasons for finding NBC scummy. I have not changed my mind Today. NBCs only activity Today has been to vote for himself, because the Politician made him do so. (The exchange may well need to be immortalised in the Great Mafia Moments thread, after the game is over. It was hilarious.) But I still think him scum. My second vote was for DarkCookies, mainly because of the way she pushed the lynch of one of the lead candidates for Jester. I’m still suspicious of Zeriel (who replaced DarkCookies) but less so because of the circumstances surrounding Cookies’ subbing out.

The person who has come up on my scumdar is Santo Rugger.

Santo made what I consider to be a very dodgy statement in post [post=10233208]1038[/post]. He’s urging people not to provide reasons for voting. Why is this bad?

Firstly, he claims that he’ll be dead by the time it matters; this presumes we don’t have a run of good lynches. Suppose that the next two lynches (for the sake of argument, NBC and Zeriel) turn out to be scum? There would then be six players in the vanilla pool, one of whom is scum, and we have no data for vote analysis. Secondly, what happens if we lynch the Jester? The recruit is going to change focus, but it may or may not show in who they vote for; it’s more likely to be revealed by changes in reasoning.

Consequently this proposal is very dangerous for the Town’s long term prospects. I think it’s enough to push Santo up my list of suspects into second place.

Then in post [post=10239508]1061[/post] Santo suggests lynching himself as a way of thinning down the number of players with no risk of a Jester recruitment. If he is the Jester, that would be a disaster. If he’s not, why do it? I can’t see this as the action of a regular T-1000.

On Oredigger’s plan; I need to sit down and work the numbers through. I’ll do this after I vote; there’s no rush to decide on which of the PD claimants is the real deal and which is a T-1000 doing a fake claim.

Vote
1. NaturalBornChap
2. Santo Rugger
3. Zeriel

Okay, now* I’m* confused.

Going by what you proposed, there are four possbilities:

You are scum, and:
a)the Vig chooses scum (-1 scum)
b)the Vig chooses town (-2 town -.5 scum (Vanilla townie + Suiciding Vig, Oredigger)

You are town, and:
c)the Vig chooses scum (-1 scum)
b)the Vig chooses town (-1 town - .5 scum (Vanilla town +** NAF**)

Since both a choices are the same, let’s move to the b choices.

Losing two townies and an already known scum doesn’t seem like a very good trade for losing one town and an already known scum… it just doesn’t make sense.

No, I never urged anybody to do anything.

Because I’m not any type of scum, duh.

Ugh, this is terrible. I have not been giving this game the attention it deserves, and now I’m in the off-board games as well. I’m afraid that I can’t say anything about these votes other than “they’ve been pinging me”, but to get a vote on the record:

1. ShadowFacts
2. Santos Rugger
3. storyteller

btw: Oredigger, as NAF is proving to be uncooperative, block one of the Connors toNight. NAF, don’t block either of the Connors.

Not quit in the your options should look like:

I am scum:
scum is chosen (-2 scum) me and vanilla scum
town is chosen (-1 town, -1 scum, vig outed)

I am town:
Scum is chosen (-1 scum) NAF
Town is chosen (-1 scum) NAF

These aren’t even close to equal and I’ve been told since I began playing that confirmed town are important so how can the worst case (-1 townie) be horrible since it confirms two townspeople and confirms a scum.
Rysto if the town decides my idea is bad I have no problem protecting one of the Connors.

Your idea is bad. Go ahead and protect/block me. It’s the most obvious way of showing the entire town what’s going on.

A look at Oredigger’s proposal.[ol][li]A member of the Vanilla Pool is randomly selected[/li][li]The Vig is to target that person.[/li][li]Oredigger will also target that person with his claimed PD powers.[/ol]If the chosen person dies, Oredigger is a lying scum. If he lives, Oredigger is confirmed as PD.[/li]
Let’s look at the results of a positive outcome. The chosen player lives. Does that confirm Oredigger as the PD? No, it does not. The Vig is a member of that vanilla pool. There is a one in seven chance that we choose the Vig as the target, in which case he’s not going to fire, is he? Thus we’ll get a “no-death” report whether Oredigger is the PD or not. (There’s also the possibility that the Vig cannot voluntarily suicide, where we get the same result).

Another issue, and one which comes up quite a lot, is that power roles will do what power roles will do. We don’t know who the Vig is (we have a good idea of who he is not, but that’s not the same thing) so we don’t know their feelings on the matter. The Vig has full control over what he writes to pedescribe, and none of us have executive oversight of the PM, so we cannot enforce the plan.

The whole point of the exercise is to confirm Oredigger. Since there is no way to ensure the plan as proposed is carried out, and there is a measurable chance that we’re asking someone to commit suicide, the plan won’t work. When we wake up Tomorrow, we’d still have doubts about Oredigger’s role.

So let’s think of another plan.

Just a quick note, I think the only one we are missing a vote from is storyteller0910.

I hope he can vote, given his problems with the board, and if so soon.

If he doesn’t, I’ll sub him out

Mhaye - to be fair I did mention the vig problem in my second post although I didnt think through the full implications. But I also droped off the idea of useing either NAF or me at the town descretion to eliminate the potential of me setting you guys up as well as town selecting which vanilla. But you’re almost right about the vig if he gets selected either he wold get blocked and kill no one or he could target a self selected random vanilla, meaning that if their are two kills the doc didnt block. Admitadly scum could no kill and screw the process up. This is enough of a problem for me to drop it for toDay but I’m probably going to try again based on night events.
