Okay. I guess the first order of business is to clear up all data regarding the reset.
My previous role was that of scientist. My Role PM was sent to me with multiple recipients:
sachertorte, Santo Rugger, storyteller, Thing Fish, and Zsofia.
(notice the alphabetical order and end-of-alphabit skew)
Now if this were a completely open game (no surprises) I’d say that’s the end of it. pedescribe would have re-randomized roles and voila.
But he has said there are some “quirks.”
Second order of business:
Is anyone willing to reveal a scum quirk he or she discovered before the reset?
I was the scum Jester before the reset and that role was just as described on the role description.
The color was kinda cool, but that’s about it.
On a side note…I have always wanted to play a Jester type, I think I would be REALLY good at it. I am a little sad that I didn’t get to keep that role.
That was my previous role as well. And I had basically the same mis-spelling that Santo referenced. Not exact but basically the same. Could be that Santo just mis-spelled the mis-spelling. And I assume that the reason I wasn’t included on the PM was because I had screwed around with my PM settings and inadvertantly tossed a switch indicating I could only get PMs from mods or contacts (or some such setting in there). So I don’t know what that does to the alphabet skew that you reference. Just thought we should know. Knowledge is power for the town, after all.
The board allows multiple receipients up to 5. Since there are 7 Scientists, pedescribe would have had to send at least 2 rounds of Scientist messages.
I agree. And while I feel like this involves a lot of meta-gaming, it is, nevertheless, part of the current state. There’s several possibilities regarding how roles, and their respective quirks, were reassigned. Most obviously, no matter how the original roles were assigned, randomly or by mod choice, it is entirely possible that the roles were NOT randomly redistributed. For instance, if a pro-town role had certain quirks, giving the original owner of that role a scum role the second time gives the scum an advantage.
However, there’s potentially a lot of danger in that line of reasoning, and I have more respect for our illustrious mod than to think he’d simply shuffle around the quirkless roles so, before pursuing that line of reasoning, I’d like to afford anyone the opportunity to raise any quirks that their previously role may have had, specifically those that NAF mentioned.
FWIW I only received one role, our mod only received my contact details a few hours before the error was identified so I guess he did not send anything to me prior to te resets.
Story / sache care to share where you think this might be going, all seams a bit meta gamey, and given that Pede does not allow quoting PMs I would hate to see the wrath of the mod descend on one of us non scum, should they reveal too much from a pre reset role PM, then again if it gets us scum why not.
Anyway, anyone got any thoughts on how this borda count might be used by the scum against us scientists?
I’m assuming that since there was no response to my question in post 77 that the game was not broken by any “quirks” that may or may not have been exposed prior to the reset, or at least that is what pedescribe wants us to think.
As I already said previously, my pre-reset role was town, and I wasn’t Sarah Conner. I’m not yet convinced that I should provide any further detail yet. As to what sachertore and storyteller are referring to, on the surface it looks like they’re trying to gather data for some probability maths. At least that’s my best guess. If some of the role recipients were not reset due to quirk exposure, maths might be able to provide some guidance.
The problem I have with this is two-fold…
1- If there is any clues that might come about due to applying math to the pre-reset data, that, to me, equals the game being broken.
2- There is no reason that that such analysis would only benefit town. We have no idea yet how our math folks have been distributed across the roles.
My previous role was scientist with a role. The colour would make it possible for me to verify anyone who claims it this time providing the same things were said in each email. Of course each role could’ve been reworded for just that reason.
I’m happy to tell you what I was previously if you don’t think it’ll bugger up the game.
For those of you planning…I see you planning…I must remind you
NO QUOTING PMS!!!1!!111!!!1!
I’ll know if you quoted a pm. I’ll know even if you don’t put quotation marks or a quote box. Be very, very careful how you explain your previous role.
And I will not hesitate to bring out the sub/banhammer out.
