FYI – in 10 minutes, my workday ends and vacation begins. I’ll be on the road through next Wednesday, although I’ll endeavor to check in when I can.

I’ll be able to post, but there won’t be any of the updates that I’ve been doing.

Storyteller?

Day Eight, Dawn

No time for color today. It’s Dawn. Five are left. One of them is not Stanislaus.

Stanislaus who was the PRIORESS and Town, is dead.

Day Eight begins here, and will end on Thursday between 1 and 5 PM. Good luck!

Oh, the sweet release of death. I enjoyed this game a lot, but have been pretty clueless.

Good luck Town!

Spoilers please story.

Yeah, the death of Stanislaus isn’t terribly surprising. I’d been hoping he’d turn up third party with some sort of night protection, to give us all a buffer but alas. It’s come to this.

So what tools does Scum have? We know for certain they have the knives. We know for certain they have the poison. I’m almost 100% certain they have the Hawk.
And I’m almost 100% certain they don’t have the bloody spear. For two reasons. First, they haven’t used it yet, and the Day Suburban died as well as yesterDay would have been pretty good times to use it. But it’s possible that even though it would have cost them nothing to use it on Suburban’s death day, strategically it would have been too soon to go for it.
But the second reason I’m certain Scum doesn’t have the bloody spear is because if they do, the game is over. Literally. We’re down to 3-2. Even if we guess correctly and get it down to 3-1, the bloody spear and the night kill take us to 1-1 (1 random scum and Hal) by tomorrow’s Dawn. I do not know what the 4th weapon is, but I must play under the assumption that it cannot be the Spear or there’s just no use in playing anymore.

Anyway, on to Scum hunting. Babale, I voted for you yesterday but you’ve done a pretty convincing job of proving to me your…I dunno…cluelessness? Naivete? I don’t mean that to be insulting so don’t take it that way. Hell, look at my voting record this whole damn game and you’ll see just how clueless I’ve been. But, right or wrong, 'til death do us part, you’ve convinced me. I think you and I are the last remaining Town.

Alright, Ender. I logged on to vote for you, but… Your post has changed my mind. I still think it’s possible that you’re Scum, and that you’re sucking up to me. But at this point, it doesn’t matter. Because I’m pretty sure we’ve reached LYLO. Now, I know for certain that I am not Scum, and that neither is Hal. That means that there are two Scum in the pool of Astral Rejection, you, and Mental Guy. You’ve voted for both of them, meaning that if you ARE Scum, you’re willing to bus one of your buddies. If you AREN’T Scum, then you voted for both of the other Scum. So for now, I will join you in voting for both of them. At some point I’d like to pick just one, but it’s a bit early in the day for that.

Vote: Astral Rejection
Vote: MentalGuy

You guys are adorably transparent. Neither of you thought I was scum yesterDay. Ender doesn’t see scum in me in post 1079, and votes for… Babale! Babale doesn’t think I’m scum in 1098, and he votes for… Ender! And now today, on the strength of exactly one post, they’ve both thrown away their suspicions of each other, and are voting for anybody else they think they can get lynched.

Ender’s post is almost entirely devoid of scum hunting, so much so that he has to preface his third paragraph with “Anyway, on to Scum hunting.” His entire case for voting for me and MentalGuy hinges on “Babale, you’re a new player who acts like a new player, so you can’t be scum.”

Babale too does exceptionally little scum hunting. He also makes a terribly spurious mental leap about Ender’s voting habits. He says that “If you’re scum, you were willing to bus one of your buddies. If you AREN’T Scum, then you voted for both of the other scum.” And so, he’s willing to follow Ender’s votes.

That’s a meaningless statement, and it gets Babale no closer to actually hunting scum, but he jumps in anyway with a quick vote. Just so I’m clear, Babale - you’d follow Ender’s lead even if one of your hypotheticals points to him being scum? You don’t even claim you think one is more likely than the other. You just say “Yep, he could be scum, so I should vote who he votes for.”

So, to recap: you throw away your suspicions for each other, both post a very quick, poorly-reasoned vote for anyone who might possibly get lynched, both double up and have two votes which is incredibly anti-town, jump on people you didn’t suspect before, and in Ender’s case imply you will not change your mind regardless of what happens later toDay.

Wow.

I’ll pick Enderw24 for now, and we can lynch Babale tomorrow, although the order truly doesn’t matter.

Vote Enderw24

One side note: It goes without saying that one-offs cannot happen toDay. Hal, MentalGuy - you need to decide between lynching me or lynching one of them.

Here are a number of statements, all of which are true:

  1. I am not Scum (Of course, this is from my PoV).
  2. Hal is not Scum. He is third party.
  3. There are three players left, excluding those I know are not Scum.
  4. There are two Scum left in the pool of three players.
If 1, 2, 3, and 4 are true, that means that that out of the pool of Ender, Astral, and Mental, two are Scum. Ender decided to vote for Astral and Mental. This means one of two things:
  5. Ender is Scum and is bussing Mental or Astral. In this case, I should determine which of the two is really Scum and use Ender’s vote to cement his lynch.
  6. Ender is Town. In this case I should determine which of the two Scum is more dangerous and vote for him.
Now. If Ender is in fact Scum, I can still only lynch one person. I know for a fact that at least one of the two players Ender has voted for ARE Scum. Would it not be smart to choose to use Ender’s vote to make this vote stronger, to ensure that said Scum doesn’t manage to weasel out and cause a mislynch? At this point, every vote counts. So if Ender really is bussing, it would be stupid NOT to use his vote to ensure a good lynch.

Now, the only reason that I know for a fact that one of the two people Ender is voting for is Scum is that I know for a fact that I am NOT Scum. From Astral’s PoV, it’s possible that Ender and I are both Scum. I don’t expect Astral to believe me just because I say he is wrong, of course. But I’m just explaining my reasoning.

Still waiting on them myself :frowning:

I’m starting up a new Conspiracy game over on the Giraffe board if anyone is interested.

No, this means you should vote for Enderw24. You can’t trust his reasoning or case making as honest, and should not be following his lead.

Yes, if you think this is the case. But I’ve seen no evidence that you believe this is more likely than the other hypothetical.

Yes, if you’re confident you can tell which is which. But you’re missing the point. If we lynch Ender, we get a whole extra Day to figure out which is the scum. And, best of all, we almost can’t lose. It’ll be between Hal, a townie, and a scum. I like those odds. If we get it wrong, we lose toDay. Why on earth would you rather take a 50/50 on hitting scum versus hitting Ender NOW, if you think he’s scum? This reasoning makes no sense whatsoever.

For future reference, it’s things like this that I believe betray you as scum. You’re voting for me, which means you think I’m likely scum. But you’re presenting my hypothetical thoughts as if I’m certain townie.

Originally I was going to say “you” meaning the generic “you”, but I decided to adress you specifically. Of course, as Scum, you’d know I’m town.

Now, while I don’t find your argument too persuasive, the fact that you are attacking Ender specifically is convincing. It’s far too late to bus Ender and hope to win, if you’re both Scum. Ender’s attack, Otoh, could be a ploy to vote for both his scum body and a town victim, then unvote said Scum. At the same time, the truth could be opposite: if Ender is town and you are Scum, your attack makes perfect sense.

At this point, both options seem equally likely. However, I am leaning towards your side, Astral, since Ender is the one I suspected in past days. I shall review the voting record before changing my vote.

Astral Rejection, your objection to me seems to be “well, you didn’t suspect me yesterday, so clearly you’re just grasping at straws to vote for me today!” You’ve not given a single reason as to why I’d be scum other than you don’t like my reasoning and you’re going to cast an OMGUS vote.

I suspect that **Hal’s **vote is going to end up being a tie-breaker toDay, wherever we land. Ironic, I guess, that the person least invested in which side wins will probably be the one to determine which side wins.
But just so we can get it out in the open…MentalGuy, what say you? Where do you suspect Scum?

I’ve been voting for you consistently throughout the game or a variety of reasons. I don’t like your cases (see: my vote regarding your case on Babale); I don’t like voting record (see: my vote regarding your voting record), and all the other things I’ve pointed out about you throughout the game.

It does me a great disservice to sum that all up as an “OMGUS vote.” It’s also obviously untrue that I’ve “not given a single reason” as to why you might be scum.

I had no clue that two votes on Day 6 was now the definition of “voting for you consistently throughout the game or a variety of reasons”
My apologies.

Oh and to get this out of the way, Tengu didn’t vote for me either in case you wanted to come back with “but I wasn’t here for the beginning of the game!”

But I wasn’t here for the beginning of the game!

Ahem. I guess a better way of putting it is that I’ve been voicing suspicion of you throughout the game. I haven’t backed that up by votes as much as I seem to remember, but my suspicion of you hasn’t come out of nowhere, either.

The point I was getting at is that you’re dismissing anything I’ve ever said about you and saying my vote is a baseless OMGUS vote. That’s clearly not true. Even ignoring everything I’ve said before, that vote by itself laid out several reasons for me to suspect you, not least of which you saying you leaned town on me and suspected Babale, and then reversing that.
