If you are alive in the game stay out or I will kill you(in the game)!
Yeah, so once things pick up, this is the thread for the ongoing discussion of the game.
twiddles thumbs
Yeah, wait until the actual weekdays for the game to pick up.
I’d like to be considered as a sub if you think you might still have any need of one; if not, then spoilers would be good. If neither of those is a current option, then, um … hi!
I’ll put you on the sub list, Normal. I’ll sub until the end of Day 2.
Eerily quiet in the main game thread. No idea why.
Dunno, but I find Rysto’s post and the comments on it to be interesting reading.
Fearless prediction: The scum will be Harry, Hermione and Ron.
I’m actually surprised he said what he said. I thought it was going to be the launching point for people to lynch him.
Most players have said nothing, so far, though. ???
Man, Drain, if that’s true you’re just not paying attention. The problem isn’t that Scum don’t betray their non-town perspective often, because they do; it’s because most of the time the only players with an adequate perspective to recognize it are fellow scum (even more so if the game has multiple mafia teams or scum plus serial killer). The pointing out of slips has a pretty decent chance of being scum-on-scum bussing or scum team A on scum team B, and that needs to be recognized, but in my experience PIS slips of various magnitudes are quite common.
Although I should also mention, looking at her comment again, that I fully agree with what she’s implying about the ‘careless language’ from a townie most often being picked up by an opportunistic mafia. There are slips and there are slips. She appears to be referring more to non-town perspective; I was focusing on non-town knowledge.
Agreed – what looks like a scum slip is more than likely going to be an innocent townie comment, but the slips are still out there.
Case in point: “ToDay was a disaster”.
Yup, that’s a good one, and and an example of the “god, you/we/the town suck” scum tell, to boot. A classic of the genre. Think also Pleonast’s slip on day one of a recent Giraffe board game, where he revealed himself accidentally as a non-vanilla role and then couldn’t follow it up with a plausible townie-type response once called out; and Boozy in the most recent of Pleonast’s Conspiracy games.
The type of stuff I think Drain was focusing on are things like a townie sort of subtly shading toward a mafia perspective (Like “The townies are restless today” as a throwaway comment, and then someone coming along and saying “OMG you talked about townies as if you aren’t one. Scum!!!” I swear nine times out of ten the second player is the actual scum in the scenario.)
Then there’s the “knowledge” slips like I first referred to, which happen all the damn time – like perhaps the mafia deliberately does a no-kill. Then later that day, in discussing it, one of the scum players refers to the situation by either overemphasizing or completely omitting that possibility (or omitting other plausible explanations), because they know damn well it wasn’t that the mafia got roleblocked or whatever. Such things are painfully easy to see if you are fellow scum (or competing scum with a roleblocker who was employed elsewhere, or whatever), but much more difficult for town. In such cases it’s maybe 50-50 whether the person who points it out is bussing from over-anxiety or a townie who really did pick up on something. But very frequently the person who makes this kind of apparent slip really is scum.
As an aside, I wonder why more people playing mafia roles don’t deliberately make ‘townie’ slips? The kind of really obvious mistake that everyone looks at and says “oh they must be town because the mafia would never forget something like that”.
Why the heck is the conversation on Day One so little?
This game has, without a doubt, the least conversation on Day One of any game I modded.
And, oddly enough, it had the *quickest *sign-ups.
I’m tempted to figure out who has been quiet and PM them to remind them.
It has been unusually quiet, not much going on other than the talk about Rysto’s advice and now the Chipicabra thing. I am getting an overzealous newbie Town read on Chipicabra. Sorry I missed the signup, but then again glad I don’t have to actually decide who to vote for.
Yeesh, it’s still surprisingly quiet for a Day One.
Thing Fish, do you want to join the sub list?
Funny the things that ping different people, because this from Drain:
Totally pings me. Maybe it’s so “blatant” because Omi has no conception of how it sounds? But that said, I do find it a weird vote justification, and Drain never fails to look like scum to me.
Jeez, last day of the Day and six hours go by without posts? I’m tempted, but I’ll be in the woods without access for a week next month, so probably not a good idea.
As of now I would be voting for Omi, for the reasons others have noted and also for accusing Chip of “preventing us from hearing more from other people”. Chip is being pretty annoying, but it isn’t actually his fault that nobody else is posting!
I know. I have no idea.
Quickest signups ever. Very excited group.
Then silence.
And storyteller hasn’t said anything, right?
It’s weird. I’m also highly suspicious of the ease of lynching omni. I would have been one of the first to vote for him, but at this point i’m bothered by the lack of any defense for him (either directly or through accusations at others). If he’s town, then I’m wondering about Shadow and one and only.
