when I first read my PM I didn’t think of the ‘maybe just one’ comment by Trepa, but when I saw how many normal town power roles we’d already killed, I started to wonder. I’ve never run into this role before, but it doesn’t strike me as particularly ‘crazy’ - it’s not even particularly useful to town unless the person playing is crafty enough to make it so, which apparently I am not. even if I had read the mafia wiki entry on Day 1, instead of more recently, I’m not sure I would have been able to pull off anything useful.
because I’ve never made it past Day 3 or 4 yet. I’m genuinely curious why this comment warranted a comment?
if you come up with anything, I’m all ears; particularly if it helps clear up Septimus’ status
maybe after the game, if you wouldn’t mind giving me some advice on how I might have done this?
I have no idea. I haven’t played enough to take into consideration what I consider be typical or not.
I’m really not able to wrap my mind around this role. How is it protective? Except toward fubbleskag himself, if someone tries to bump him off?
Oh wait, I just may have figured this out – you’re saying that he should’ve tried to attract attention so that he’d be targetted by scum, since he’s apparently immune, and therefore he’d be saving some other Townie from the scum?
And for that matter, isn’t his claiming this now, only just after Night began, rather anti-Town? There’s nearly a week until the next Day ends, and he’s obviously not in imminent danger of lynching – he could’ve easily waited until after Dawn to defend himself by posting his role PM. Now, claiming just after Night falls, means that he’s told scum early on, “don’t waste time trying to kill me, I’m immune,” which basically renders his role useless?
…Which is exactly what happened with septimus, as a matter of fact. What the hell is with these supposed power roles and their determination to protect themselves more than Town?
BTW, would it be at all edifying if we asked him whom he hid behind for the past couple of Nights? Seems to me as if finding that out would give us a bit more info? For example: as I read the Mafia Wiki entry on “Hider,” it says that any attempts to hide behind a scum member would result in the Hider’s death. Maybe that’s not part of the rules here, I dunno, but if it is, whoever fubbles hid behind will be cleared.
As far as your last question, in a newbie-friendly game, I’d think we need all the protective roles we can get! Of course that’s doubly true considering apparently two of our protective role players have apparently preferred to protect themselves rather than their team.
A townie’s goal is to get rid of scum, personal survival is not necessary to meet the win condition. You voted the claimed doc and then yourself in order to save a player whose alignment you should not know but you’re concerned about being mislynched. The last time I saw this role it was scum and could hide from the lynch, you may be misleading us.
Echoing choie, who have you hidden behind so far?
Choie, I’m leaning Town on both Scathach and Hirka.
these things have a tendency to steam roll and it made more sense to clear it up now rather than letting people waste the Daytime and only claim near the end of the Day, which not give people enough time to make an alternate decision. also partly out of exasperation; I’m tired of defending myself - and yet, once again, it seems that even my claim itself is leading to more suspicion and more defense, or ‘clarification’ if you prefer.
so I’m not allowed to have a personal goal of finishing a game? or even just making it further than I normally do? what a load of horse shit.
of course I’m concerned about being mis-lynched, who wouldn’t be? obviously I’m willing to sacrifice myself for the good of town (even if my attempt to do so was not only based on faulty logic, but apparently somehow scummy?), but that doesn’t preclude me from wanting to survive.

convince me this information brings any value to town and I’ll tell you; otherwise, I’m keeping mum. what if there’s a pattern to my selection process that scum are able to figure out, thereby predicting my next choice and taking out myself and them? if you (or anyone else) is unable to convince me there’s pro-town value in this information, I may have to consider it a scum tell to have even asked for it in the first place.
Choie, I’m leaning Town on both Scathach and Hirka.

Personally I understand having that as a goal, and I don’t think it’s unnatural to feel that way. In-game, though, I think someone reading your comment and interpreting it as “I need to last till EOG to win” isn’t completely out of the question.
My rationale for asking for this info – well, actually I only asked whether we should ask for it – was what I stated: that according to the wiki description I’d read, a town hider like you would’ve died if you’d hidden behind someone who’s scum/mafia, which means whoever you’ve hidden behind was clearly Town. If this isn’t the way your specific version of the role is being handled, then I don’t think there’s much value in the info. Or am I wrong?
The night was spooky, and long. Folks were too busy huddling up to explore each other, too afraid of the multiple killers on the loose to make the night their own. Too bad. For the day proved unexpectedly levitory. While, yes, Guiri was found dripping from the rafters upside-down (and, I mean, when doesn’t that happen after a long enough get-together), the second victim of the night proved to not actually be a victim at all! That is to say, not dead. That is to say, alive. Yay, life!
GuiriEnEspana, Vanilla Town, is dead.
It is now Day 4. Day 4 ends at 11:00 AM MST on Friday, Dec 23.
Sorry, Guiri. You will definitely be missed. I’m not surprised you scumbags went after him.
Only one death though. Why was toNight different from all other Nights? (Sounds like the Passover question…) Was the apparent vig / serial killer blocked or just absent?
Fuck. Thanks, Guiri, for being of such great service to town!
Still, as town, we’re improving, losing only one instead of two during the night. I’m going to have a good hard look at the night kills to see if I can figure out what happened. Maybe a vig tried to take out a hiding Fubbles, that’d be kind of neat.
