MAGA women and their hair extensions

How long has this been a thing, the extremely long (I assume) extensions. Prime examples: Kristi Gnome and MTG. And the older the woman with the hair, the sadder it looks. But if that’s what they want, cool!

If there is any correlation (which, honestly, I doubt) it more has to do with the vanity of the MAGA individuals, which much like their patron saint, are convinced that their looks work despite any possible evidence.

With a tiny side of “long hair is traditional on women, so longer hair is MORE traditional/RWNJ?” reasoning. After all, being deemed ugly or “mannish” is the epitome of insults for a female targeted by MAGA these days.

But again, I seriously doubt there’s any major pattern in the offering.

Perhaps it goes well with the Mar-a-Lago face.

The longer the hair, the closer to Satan.

Good name/post!

It is a little bit like high school. We had the cruisers and the greasers, the surfers and jocks, the nerds and then about 25% that didn’t really fit any mold.

If women are getting that because they think it makes them look more feminine… Wouldn’t that make it gender-affirming surgery?

They can have all the work done on their faces they want, but their necks tell the truth. They need to have a procedure wherein laces are put on the backs of their necks, so they can cinch them up.

Ahem.

As a 64 yo tree-hugging liberal feminist with natural hair just about long enough to sit on, I take mild exception to some of the statements here.

An no, I’m not the other extreme - the Woodstock aging earth-mother-hippie type either.

Just a middle class farmgirl/tomboy who’s too lazy to do makeup and frou-frou hairstyles!

That’s me also. My hair is the longest it’s been since high school, and when I get tired of dealing with it, I’ll hack it off to maybe chin length. Not sure what that says about me, but I’m pretty sure I don’t care. It’s just hair. Straight, thinning, not-yet-gray hair.

Forgive my ignorance, but what gives them away as having extensions? I have never noticed such a thing.

Yeah, god damn that I’m defending Republicans, but who assumes long hair equals extensions?
Was Noem’s hair short last year or something?

Also, of all the things to criticize them for, hair extensions are well, the least worthy of actual criticism. Unless they are having poor people’s heads forcibly shaved to get them or something, I suppose.

Bashing women for their appearance is problematic at best, anyway.

More than you want to know…

It’s disgusting that we’ve gone to this extreme over a woman’s look. A—gain.

Whoever caused it, and I’m not convinced it’s all right wing or men., they should be whipped.
Women don’t necessarily dress for men. If they do, that’s a personal problem.

I can’t describe how I might dress or wear my hair if I were in those circles. It’s easy to say, I’ll be the oddball. It’s much harder to do.

I think the MAGA women are following that “popular” girl thing.

As a political signifier, which is what the OP seems to be asking, it doesn’t seem worse than criticizing a guy for his orange spray tan. I can’t get especially hepped up about attacking (or defending) either as a matter of politics.

It amuses me that maga females are ragged on for their appearance but never any democrat ones.

Is that a joke? Clinton, Pelosi and Harris all took sustained criticism for their looks. There’s a million memes about fat rainbow-dyed hair Tumbler liberals.

OK so ISTM it’s a “conventional beauty standards” thing among some people with money and visibility and pedestrian tastes. Ehh, big deal. As mentioned there is plenty of derision to be found in the opposite direction too with little effort.

And don’t y’all try to look innocent, we’ve done some poking at “Fox News Blondes” in the past right here at the Dope.

Really, is there anything that will not be labeled a “political signal” …

And MAGA guys and beards? What’s up with that?

Funnily enough, Trump is on record as hating beards.
