Major League Baseball: League Championship Serieses Thread

How about Base Loaded with Two outs and Beltran at the plate. Works for me.

This shit is NOT good for my blood pressure.

(At least we won. I shall go to bed cursing Adam Wainwright, but at least he pulled it off.)

My regards to the Met fans. Sad way to lose, especially after that CATCH.

See you all at the Hot Stove soon.

Congratulations.

That is one sad, sad stadium full of people.

I’m a Yankee fan.

And, I should say, one deliriously happy red-shirted locker room.

A Midwest Series. Here’s hoping for a classic.

My roommate and I were seriously freaking out there for a minute. I think we woke up the neighbors when it ended! Go Cards!

The Mets played a heckuva series, making us Cards fans sweat. Kudos for a well-played game.

I was the only one in my house watching the game. Everyone else couldn’t take the suspense.

What a game. What a series.

I’m glad the Cards won, but man, you gotta feel sorry for the Mets.

Good job by Suppan (series MVP).

Thudlow, I hear ya. I always feel bad for the losing team, especially when they show the crestfallen players and fans. It kind of takes some of the sweetness from winning.

As long as Denny McLain and Mickey Lolich aren’t in uniform for the Tigers, I’ll be thrilled.

Anyone hear the interview with Rolen after the game?

He says, “bit of a tumultuous inning for number 27. FIrst I get robbed, then I hit the moose in the head.”

I thought La Russa was going to throw up, like actually maybe throw up, when Beltran came to the plate. What a game.

I almost started rooting for the Mets just so that catch would achieve it’s proper stature in the pantheon. Easily on my short list for “best catch ever”.

You got your wish. I said to Mrs. D_Odds that Mets fans are experiencing what Yankee fans did all season - their big hitter up in a clutch situation and going down meekly with the bat on his shoulder. I empathize with their upset.

Indeed, if someone had offered that Perez would give up one run through six and we’d have the tying runs on with Beltran up in the ninth, I would have taken it in a heartbeat. Congrats to the Cards, I’m off to throw some bats in the ol’ woodstove …

Helluva game - squeaker to the end - Honestly, I was hoping the outfield grass was wet enough to be slippery so the Cards RF would have missed that bottom of the 9th 2nd out catch and we could have gone into extra innings

Well fought, Cards - good luck against the Tigers
But I am **not ** a happy camper today :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

What was up with Rolen’s interview? Did he seriously say something about a moose? I don’t get it. On the Fark thread, someone implied that Rolen left when La Russa was mentioned. Is that what happened?
One further note:WOOOOOOOOOT!!!

All the ending needed was Ernie Harwell saying that Beltran “stood there like the house by the side of the road” as strike three was called. Great game and series.

Great game, lots of fun. I’m satisfied with the result, to be sure, since I don’t like the New York teams.* I’m looking forward to the Series, though I don’t know that the Cardinals will hold up well against Detroit. Still, you never know with baseball. Something incredible–like Chavez’s catch and double play–could happen. It will be interesting, however it plays out.

I’m sorry, but the Mets deserved to lose for their stadium sound system alone. Not only was it loud and boorish, it came through on the TV broadcast as amazingly tinny and grating. It sounded like those speaker Radar used to use to make announcements to the 4077th on MASH. Very distracting throughout the game.

I don’t know what Rolen meant either, but I’m guessing he was referring to the time in “Bull Durham” when Nuke LaRoosh threw a pitch so wildly that he hit the guy in the Bull costume, and in the heat of the moment Rolen said “moose” when he meant to say “bull”, as in Rolen’s throw to first was so wild that it hit the guy in the bull costume.
