Figures. The Yankees lose in the games I have to stay up late to watch, and win the ones I can’t watch from work. I’ll take it though. Back to Texas!
So it looks like Philly is going to make sure Ross doesn’t beat them tonight…so we’ll let the Rookie of the Year take care of things instead.
And it’s about time.
2-0 now for Giants
Knowing the yankees their solution will be to give 100 million to Crawford
Probably not, the upgrade of Crawford over Gardner is not worth $100m and everyone including me is expecting them to give Lee some CC Sabathia size contract though perhaps for only 5 years So call it $110 million. Even the Yanks have limits unless they find a way to move AJ in the off-season.
The Yanks have roughly $67 million coming off the books next year. But have to resign Andy, Jeter & Rivera of course. Plus Hughes will win a goodly bump in Arbitration. So I think Lee will be their only pick up and one that makes more sense than Crawford overall.
Fantastic play by Posey to nab that throw and hold on to make the tag…
Has anybody seen the Giants’ wheels?
Are you trying to say Bumgarner was a bummer?
NESN is reporting that Red Sox bench coach DeMarlo Hale, Red Sox pitching coach John Farrell, and Indians first base coach Sandy Alomar Jr. are the three finalists for the Blue Jays’ managerial job.
He’s been rock solid the last part of the season, and against the Braves. And he seemed to be on cruise control through 4…then it all went sideways…
But it looks like we’re on the way back now
The difference in number of at-bats (or, more accurately, plate appearances) between the third and fifth lineup spots has to be pretty small in a playoff series, and really even over the course of a season.
Not necessarily disagreeing about putting Cano in the 3-spot, but I wouldn’t see it as really getting him appreciably more chances. Personally I’d probably have him there at Teixiera at 5.
But as he and Jeter were the only ones hitting consistently, moving Cano closer to Jeter also is a help.
Big double there. Giants back ahead 5-4.
I’m pretty sure Sandoval was robbed on that line drive down the right field line, but right now I don’t care
I think the guys at Baseball Prospectus say that every spot higher in the lineup is worth about 18 extra at-bats over the course of a season. So a #3 will get about 36 more at-bats than a #5 over a season.
Over a playoff series, obviously, the difference is virtually nothing…
This is a pretty fun game right now.
That’s pretty much the only kind the Giants play. Yesterday’s 3-0 game was a laugher, compared to most.
I don’t think it was on purpose, but Buster Posey ran a perfect screen in front of Rollins there. I don’t think he saw the ball at all when it came up on him. Bad luck for the Phillies on that one
<sigh> Double play
Oh, Giants. Fuck you.
Torture!!!
