Well, we lost to a superior team and they were a total class act in how they acknowledged Bobby Cox.
I will be pulling for the Giants to go all the way.
The next pitching match-up will be AWESOME!

I think if everybody just backs off a bit, we’ll be ok. Part of the fun of being a fan is engaging in irrational loathing of people you don’t even know (like everyone who ever attended, or roots for, the University of Southern California. They’re the spawn of Satan). It’s harmless. Let it go.
Wasn’t any worse than what Locrian said. What difference does it make?
Thank you for that, if sports threads are bereft of a little trash talking it would make no sense at all.
Calling one player on a team fat and saying the team is overpaid is the same as saying the entire city and fanbase is classless? Because, you know, there are several posters in the thread who belong to each of those groups, there, moderator.
Not that it’s a big surprise or anything; it’s the lowest hanging fruit around. Might as well take a few swipes. Lord knows you can’t enjoy a sport unless you’re a dick about it.
Wow! I didn’t expect this kind of reaction. It’s just a little trash talking. Sports is the type of debate subject in which ad hominem attacks and sweeping generalizations are commonly used and accepted. Philly fans: just tune in to one your city’s radio sports talk shows and you’ll agree.
Truth is, I’ve never had any issues with the Phillies or any other team from that city. If they win championships at all in a sports, it’s like one every 50 years so no worries for us. Plus, the Phillies have done great job in smacking around the team from Queens and keeping us on the back pages.
Plus I have an uncle who’s overpaid and an aunt that’s fat.
Perhaps I may have overreacted. God knows, I’ve spent hours of my life trashing the Yanks. Trash talk away, just remember, we’re not all classless rejects.
is “Yankees suck” hate speech?

Nope, it’s just inaccurate.
Rangers beat the Rays!!!
Rangers beat the Rays!!!
First time they ever won a playoff Round. Congrats to the Rangers and their fans.
I am just happy Lee won’t be starting game one and probably not until game 3.
Go Yanks!

I think that the Yanks have to win in 6, unless Lee comes back on 3 days rest and pitches game 6. I think winning games 1 and 2 would go a long way in helping the Yanks get #28. Girardi is a bit too trigger happy with the “Sabathia on 3 days rest” strategy. This is okay once in a while, but is not sustainable. He keeps creating the potential for a Sabathia blow-up at the exact wrong time deep in a series.
I’m OK with the 3 days rest bit, but I agree, the Yanks best bet is too finish the series having only faced Lee once. They have been given a gift and best capitalize on it.
It sounds like the plan though is to have CC pitch Games 1 & 5 right now. AJ is scheduled (conditionally) for game 4.
Does it really matter that lee pitches 3 and 7 instead of 1 and 5?
I think the idea is that he might have been able to go 1-4-7.

Yes, plus 3 & 7 means he is far less likely to pitch twice. 1 & 5 would have increased Texas’ odd I would think you would agree.

If the Yankees are up 3-2 in Game 6, why would the Rangers use Lee on short rest? Since they’d have to win Game 7 anyway, and presumably Lee would be the best man to win it, you might as well stick to your rotation. Nor would it really make any sense to use Lee in Game 2, unless you’re praying for a rainout that allow a 2-4-7 or a 2-5-7.
Lee can’t go 1-4-7, so he might as well do 3-7. The Rangers are gonna have to win some ballgames Lee doesn’t start.
Only to prevent the season from ending with Lee sitting. Some managers would do that and some won’t. As you can see, I expect to see him in game 3 & 7 which I think benefits the Yanks over 1 & 5.

I agree with you, but there are a couple of good reasons why Lee would pitch Games 3 and 6. Most people believe that winning Game 7 on the road is very difficult and Texas might want to ensure that it goes to Game 7. This theory would work even if TX is up 3-2. Also if there is a weather postponement (causing Game 5 in NY to occur the day before Game 6 in TX), you could pitch Lee to help provide some rest to the bullpen so that they are fresh for Game 7.
Lee has never pitched on 3 day’s rest. Not once. Do you really think this is a good time to see if he can? How bout 3 times in a row?
Also I don’t think winning a game 7 on the road is any more difficult than winning a game 6 on the road.
