Hey everyone.
I am a university student in Canada with $2300 still left to pay off in my tuition. There’s $18 in my bank account and I get some money from the parents but that goes into paying my tuition in small increments and my transportation costs. I have a long commute which takes me on a bus system and a subway system. I’m unemployed (and actively looking for a job, trying to get into a local bank). And I guess it would be the honest thing to mention that I do have a credit card, but there’s about $350 in it. That’s got to kill my chances a bit, huh?
Did that sound a little exaggerated? It’s not as horrible as I just made it sound (I’m still healthy and happy, aren’t I?), but I am in fact pressed for cash. I know there are people who would need this more than me, but I thought I’d give this a shot.
I don’t really chat a lot in the forums so I may be at a disadvantage here, being somewhat of an unknown… But I do love these forums. I wish I had discovered them sooner. Maybe I would’ve had the chance to get to know more of the people here.

Well. I emailed someone (can’t remember who now) in private to make a request but never heard back. So… hello? Single mom here with serious financial problems that hopefully will end soon, but probably not before April 21st. I know $5 isn’t alot, but when I think of whipping out the ol’ debit card, a nagging voice inside says “but that’s half a haircut for one of the kids!”

Wow. I got a lot of responses to my above post, and I appreciate it alot. Thanks to all who offered to help, you dopers are a generous bunch. I started coming here last summer but haven’t posted much until recently. I’ve been off work for minor surgery for a couple weeks, and have become addicted to SDMB! How am I going to go back to work now?
