I have plenty (well that might be overstating the matter) of cash and can easily afford the fiver. I’d rather pay, really. Can I send any Irish doper five euros or a cheque?

It used to be. It’s euros now. Rather more dreary, although the coins still have harps on them. Would be just a tad worried about sending coins, though.
When I first saw that the SDMB was going to paid subscriptions, I said, “Oh, well, I’m hardly ever on anymore, I don’t have a credit card, nor Paypal–actually, I don’t even have five dollars at the moment. Screw it, let them dump me, I’ll live.”

OK, I was wondering if anyone would like to pay for me now and I can pay them back as soon as I start my summer job. I’m in the boat with other university students in that right now I’m tapped for cash, I’ve got a dollar in my bank account and am in a very tight fiscal situation. If someone wants to lend me the usage of $5 and their credit card I’d be entirely greatful and they could have their money back as soon as I get my first paycheque, probably within a month. Another college student here (freshman). All I have are loans and a summer internship that doesn’t pay money (but is going to give me good credentials and experience…I get to wirk with someone who has published in JAMA doing genetics research).
