Other than that - I’m interested in reading the thread but don’t feel I have anything to contribute by posting there.
I think there’s still the lingering playground attitude of not wanting to be a tell-tale, but if the board culture is going to change for the better it means individuals stepping up and calling out the offenders. And yeah, I think a lot of the onus right now is on men to say out loud ,“Yeah, I’m not happy with that remark”.

But that was a one off drive by post responding to a response that doesn’t even directly respond to Shodan. Could you point to a more substantive argument directly against Shodan describing him as “mansplaining”? Really trying to understand your position here.
I completely agree, and I reported that post last night (or maybe early this morning).
All that post shows is that DSeid is a little delusional about the level of diversity here. He may be trying to prove a point with his poll, that there’s plenty of women, but he’s not airing dirty laundry and he definitely isn’t doing it for the lolz. Frankly, the poll is probably going to show he’s wrong.
And there’s nothing wrong with that, not everybody has to contribute to every thread, especially when you look at something and think, “Well, that’s not my area of experience”. One of the bra fitting threads I looked at a while back and typed up a post about my wife having to buy trainer bras when she moved to New Zealand because most of the cup sizes were too big, but then figured, yeah, but that’s not really my story and this isn’t really my conversation, and besides there’s the lol boobs contingent to consider so I’ll just delete what I’ve typed and move on. Maybe someone will talk about manscaping soon.
The post which was being quoted was directly responding to Shodan.
ITD’s response to Shodan was “It never gets old”. Helena summed “it” as “You’re thinking wrong, little lady. Let me explain it to you.” IOW, that shodan was mansplaining and there’s no end to that.
I’m not 100% sure that Helena was interpreting ITD correctly, but I incline to think she was, especially as ITD offered no other response.
ITD didn’t quote Shodan, so maybe you’re reaching? The timestamps are only a minute apart, she could have been responding to the post above Shodan. Can you not come up with an explicit example?
That post was right after shodan’s and also followed an extended exchange between ITD and shodan.
Correlation does not prove causation. Really, you can’t find a more explicit example?

The “never gets old comment” referred to the summary of the situation as “shutting down conversation I dislike”. It was a patronizing dismissal of the deepfelt concerns we are trying to express and trivializing the complexity of the solution. It was that summation, which in some form or another has been presented over and over again, that never gets old. While not mansplaining, it is a different form of condescension.
Well, only “probably” because you assume you’re correct. Which is an unsteady assumption istm. But I understand how you might not be inclined to expend a lot of time on that.
