I like to think that I have high moral standards. I also generally consider myself conservative. However my morals may not follow what you might think is the party line. For instance most evangelical conservatives think that gambling is a sin. I think it is a great way to pass the time. Does that make me a hypocrite? No I am not violating my own moral code or preaching against something that I do. I’m certainly not defending the DWI. I just object to the use of the word hypocrite without further explaination. The guy was an asshole for putting others lives at risk.

I don’t think gambling is a moral failure either, as long as you don’t steal to feed an addiction. Driving under the influence absolutely is, there is no question about it. I had forgotten about the frequent mentions of Ted Kennedy and references to Chappaquidick in the strip. That certainly qualifies as hypocricy, doesn’t it?
The thing I hate about the strip is that he has only two bullets in his gun- outrage over news items taken out of context; and strawmen, where he puts words in the mouths of “fuzzy pinko liberals”.

Like I said I don’t read it. I don’t think my paper carries it. If that is the case then absolutely he is a hypocrite.
Give the guy a break. What with the breakdown of neo-con ideology and the Democratic win in congress-- it would take a person with a deep and rich sense of humor not fall to the demon of drink.
I am pretty sure that 90% of the population is against drinking and driving from all corners of the political landscape. I don’t think this partiular form of hypocricy is limited to the conservatives.

His second booze-fueled arrest in four months? Blood alcohol of .14?
That does tend to explain the bludgeoning stupidity of the strip, eh?
[/QUOTE]
Nah, if I could survive an alcohol level of that much (and I’ve probably come close a few times), I could be more entertaining and humorous than the strip is.

And the Mainstream Media…which are, I guess, “fuzzy pinko liberals” by definition. So, nevermind.

What differentiates an automatic machine pistol from an automatic pistol?
[/QUOTE]
A regular automatic pistol is merely self-cocking. You fire one shot and the gun cocks itself so that when you pull the trigger again it fires again.
An automatic **machine ** pistol fires multiple shots with one pull of the trigger. You pull the trigger and bullets keep coming out until the magazine is empty.
(Note that some automatic machine pistols can also fire in bursts. Pull the trigger and three bullets come out, for example.)

Thanks.
I remember this from a Steve Martin album from the '70s:
AUDIENCE MEMBER: We love you, Steve!
STEVE MARTIN: [slurring speech] Oh, yeah? Well, fuck you!
[laughter]
I know you came to hear Steve Martin, this great fuckin’ comedian . . . well, that’s a bunch of fuckin’ bullshit
[laughter]
Thing is. . . I didn’t get to come on until 7:45. They tell you you’re gonna be on at 7:30 . . . so at 7:15, you start drinking! At 7:30, I was a funny son of a bitch!

You almost got it right except for a minor typo. I’m sure you meant to put “believe I was being” where you wrote “be”
