I can imagine Kentucky basketball fans gnashing their teeth over the title game finalists being teams that they not only beat during the regular season, but clobbered. ![]()
UNC is reluctantly my choice Monday.
I can’t get behind Kansas until the NCAA investigation report is published .
Good call. UK beat UNC in December by 29 points, scoring an amazing 58 points in the second half.
Then in January, UK beat KU, in Lawrence, by 18 points, in a game that really wasn’t that close. Kentucky jumped out to an early lead, led 51-31 at halftime, and cruised to the victory.
After I watched the KU-UK game, I was convinced that the Jayhawks were not a Final Four team and Kentucky was a legit threat to win it all.
Shows what I know.
Wasn’t there a game that ended up 10-7 or something like that?
My mistake. 12-10.
I normally don’t follow ACC basketball. I’ve been reading about UNC’s transition from Coach Roy Williams to Hubert Davis. Coach Davis is doing a superb job in his first year. He inherited a lot of talent and also moved UNC’s style to a pro offense. He proved Saturday that his program is working.
Hopefully Coach Davis is a good recruiter. He won’t have Roy Williams players for very long. Winning a National Title would certainly make recruiting easier. ![]()
Time will tell if Hubert will turn out to be the next Roy Williams, or the next Bruce Weber (who has kind of gotten a reputation for being able to win with his predecessors’ recruits, but not so much with his own.)
Jon Scheyer will be facing the same challenges at Duke. I hope to see UNC and Duke at the tournament next year. They probably won’t ever face each other again in the Final 4.
Best national anthem ever! N’awlins dixieland fonk!
UNC is very impressive. 40-25 Kansas has a lot of work in the 2nd half.
Well, UNC’s lead disappeared quickly. We have a competitive game again.
Wow. Just. Wow.
That was a helluva comeback by Kansas.
ROCK CHALK!!!
The biggest comeback in championship game history.
First time in my life I picked the winner way back when filling out my brackets!
KU won in 1988, and when there was a victory parade in Lawrence my dad was the driver of one of the players. I didn’t remember who the player was, but just this afternoon I was sifting through some photo albums that belonged to mom and found a picture of the event. The player was named Milt Newton. They had to meet again the next day because Mr. Newton left his wallet in Dad’s car.
What a inspired comeback by Kansas . Great game.Congratulations to the team!
