Well, I lost my shirt in Vegas over the weekend. I still can’t get any cards.
Yeah, but you were in Vegas. Vegas!!! You don’t think they pay the electricity bills on the strip by giving away money, do ya?
Actually, I can’t remember where I read it, but I heard that card rooms are actually bad for business at casinos. The logic (which seems correct to me) is that the money made from the rake at the poker tables doesn’t provide nearly the same revenue per square foot of floor space that any other game (particularly slots) could generate. I don’t know if that counts spillover from poker to other gaming activities or not, but I thought it was interesting nonetheless. And if you don’t find it interesting, you’re just a smelly Yeti. 
Well, what I meant to say was, I’m sorry you got cleaned out Robot Arm. However, I’m horribly jealous that you went to Vegas and I didn’t.
Well, yeah, you’re partly right; it was an interesting place to see. And when I’m old and feeble, looking back on what I did and didn’t get to do during my life, I can say “I played poker in Vegas.”
But the closet light wouldn’t go out, water backed up out of the drain in the bathroom sink, the fountains at the Bellagio were cancelled because of high winds, the cute girl on my left at the poker table was flirting with the guy on my right, and a friend I was hoping to meet up with for lunch totally blew me off and didn’t even return my calls, so you’re not missing much.
Maybe we can all get together and hit Vegas sometime.
You hang with the Duke, and you won’t care if you have a light in your closet, or a sink in your bathroom. The pretty girls will swoon and the fountains will shoot. You might still lose your shirt, but you will have fond memories of the trip.
I’ve been playing a lot of sit-n-go at bodog. Usually I play a $6 buy-in 10 seater with payouts of 50-30-20%. I like it better than the multi-table tourneys since they don’t ake all night and I can usually end up in the money often. Last night I finished second twice out of three sit-n-gos (shoulda one won of them but when I got the pocket tens heads up he/she got pocket Kings. Oh the humanity! Whither my big chip lead.)
Fouth winning session in a row, but it was looking grim. Had a hard time getting a feel for the table, but got up to $43 pretty quick. Thought about just quitting while ahead. But no, dicked around down to $7.50. Got back up to about $15 and covered a $12 all-in and won. Struggled back up past $30. Then had two guys go all-in with $10 or so and beat them both for a triple and then quit for a little over $30 to the good.
So my play sucked, but I stuck around long enough to get lucky at the right moment a couple of times. Even though my stack was bigger, I sure didn’t have any satisfaction from the session.
Speaking of grim, are we back in action tonight after the holiday layoff?
