Marching Band prohibited from playing "Louie Louie"

Every time that article is linked to, we get threads started on how Bob Denver and Jerry Mathers are still alive.

I like marching band versions of “Louie Louie” I wasn’t in band in HS, but that song and “Baby Elephant Walk” were my two favorites that the band did at half-time. The world be be a poorer place without the genius of Richard Berry’s One Big Hit.

Just wanna add, if you’ve only heard the pathetic Kingsmen, and never Richard Berry and the Pharaohs’ version, you’re missing something important in your life.

:smack: Jeeezzzz! Just when I think they can’t do any thing dumber, they pull this crap! These people are like a black hole sucking the brain cells right out of my head. Did she ever read the lyrics or even listen to the song?

“It was not that I knew at the beginning and said nothing,” Dawning said. “I normally count on the staff to make reliable decisions. I found out because a parent called, concerned about the song being played.”
So now all it takes is a single wack-a-doo parent to disrupt and entire school system.

I would be funny if I didn’t think it was totally possible from these idiots

I’m surprised that no one has mentioned this.

MsRobyn
was suprised that nobody had mentioned it back at post #14.

“Me gotta go.” Good thing this is the Pit, else I might be banned for quoting something so obscene.

This is the same type of rectal haberdashery that got the Beach Boys banned from playing at the Washington Monument on 7/4/83. Because they might attract the “wrong element.”

I missed it (was listening to the Mavs news after a brutal game last night) but this morning our local right-wing airhorn was apparently spreading this story around. A cube-mate came by saying “I can’t believe how dirty that song is.” I deftly pulled up Google and showed him how the school had already reversed their ban after removing their heads from their asses. Apparently Darrel Ankarlo doesn’t have access to the same cutting edge technology that I do.

Every time I see a thread like this, I feel the urge to link to one very particular Parking Lot Is Full comic.

I think it speaks volumes.

I have Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, although only on cassette. Two entire albums of nothing but Louie Louie…what more could one ask for? :stuck_out_tongue:

Heh! Absolutely one of the rudest, raunchiest, nastiest versions ever!
I love the intro (live):
“Alright kids, we can play our normal set, or a 40 minute version of Louie, Louie. What’ll it be?”
clunk
“Thankyou, whoever threw that beer bottle, it coulda killed me but you missed! Louie, Louie it is then!”

Ignoring JeffB’s wise advice, the school has now cleared the band to torture listeners with this overplayed song.

Here’s what the FBI heard…

[QUOTE=adam yax I can’t wait to see what high school football games will look like in 5-10 years.

*There will be no cheerleaders (cheering could lead to dancing).[/QUOTE]

You mean like this? ]

This one already exists in some districts.

Robyn should have paid more attention to post #6.

The first I heard about this was yesterday. Rush Limbaugh was on in the office next to mine and he was pitting the schoolboard for the same thing in a very long segment. Then I found this thread and have been following it.

It is just surreal seeing the concensus on the SDMB and Limbaugh being in sync. I’m going to go see if hell has frozen over yet.

Yuo can find more information on the true meaning of Louie Louie here.

And yet some of us wonder why so many people feel a false sense of entitlement.

You suppose it took Cecil 20 minutes to write that?
