No, they’re not related. CNN throws that in every once in a while when they’re on a panel together.
To clarify - CNN sometimes mentions that they are not related.
The magazine Brill’s Content did a piece on which Carlson was seen more in the media during one particular period. The story isn’t available at the magazine’s website. I believe Tucker won out in the period checked, but it was during the holidays. Margaret has a family to entertain and I don’t think Tucker does.
I ran into Margaret Carlson once at my job. She dressed exactly like she did on TV except that she wore sandals. I also helped out Mark Shields once where I worked. Very nice guy.

Tucker does have a family. People magazine recently did an article on him. He has a few young kids. I like him a lot, but I thought it was very strange that he had the airbags removed from his cars because he doesn’t think the government should regulate car safety.
I enjoy watching him on the Spin Room. Today Salon.com did an article on how bad Spin Room is but then went on to dedicate four pages and a big wet sloppy kiss to Ally McBeal. I don’t get it.
Tucker Carlson looks like Charles Grodin’s love child. That said, he’s actually kinda cute… 
But what is with the bow ties? Is there a political cult that uses the bow tie as a symbol of membership? Are pundits secretly connected to Nation of Islam? What’s the deal?!
Margaret has that “soccer mom” feel to her, while Tucker seems a bit more “lacrosse dad” to me.
I have no idea if “lacrosse dad” means anything, but I’m desperate for a metaphor here.
In spite of his bowtie and his aversion to airbags, I think Tucker Carlson is a hottie. There. I’ve said it and I’m glad.
And I have an innocent non-sexual girl crush on Margaret Carlson. BobT, you are a lucky man.

Margaret Carlson is NOT related to political commentator Tucker Carlson, but I believe she IS the sister or cousin of Minnesota’s former governor Arne Carlson.
For a minute or two I had to sort out Margaret Carlson from Barbara Carlson, Arne’s ex-wife and Twin Cities radio personality. It’s been a while since I’ve watched Capital Gang and I couldn’t remember whether Margaret was the mousy Carlson or the mouthy Carlson…
