Just saw the video online and wondered one thing. Did anyone else think the chorus girl chant of “Be obscene” was a direct ripoff of the cheerleader chant from Faith No More’s “Be Aggressive”? That’s what I was thinking as I watched the video. Whatcha think?

Once Manson started allowing members into the band whose pseudonyms didn’t follow the (First name of notable woman) + (Last name of serial killer) rule, I just became DISGUSTED with that big sellout! Ptooey on him!

I agree. And I don’t think that it is accidental either. The timing is just too similar “Be, Obscene. Be Be Obscene” sounds identical in timing and delivery to “Be, Aggresive. Be Be Agresive.”.
I thought the same thing when I heard this song. In fact it was the first thing that jumped into my head as soon as I heard it.
I like MM, but I only own ‘Holy Wood’. When I saw the video last night I thought “Hmmm, must be a song from animals or something that I never heard…” I didn’t know it was new until I read this OP. Sure doesn’t sound new…

I only own “Antichrist Superstar” from 1996, which is where MM belongs. His early albums are only listenable because of Trent Reznor’s production. After they fell out, I lost interest.

The Be Aggressive thing is an actual cheer. FNM gets points for using it first, but it certainly wasn’t originated by them. I learned this years ago when my then (former cheerleader) girlfriend heard me singing the FNM song to myself and asked how I knew the cheer.
I remember seeing an MTV TRL clip with Marilyn. Some deluded kid in the audience had scratched his name in large letters across her chest in BIG letters. Probably some permanant scarring, I imagine.
Imagine how SHE feels about his lackluster followup albums…
