Marine throws puppy off a cliff

There is a bit of a gap between cringing and laughing. You don’t have to find it funny to not find it cringe worthy.

Why is it funny to you when someone hurts herself in pursuit if a sport?

You know, it is one thing when humans kill each other. At this point it is neither surprising or much of a concern to me. There always will be war. My evidence? There always has been war. War is part of human nature.

Bringing defenseless animals into it crosses a line. At least a man has a fighting chance and knows what he is up against so he can take action. Both our soldiers and the car-bombers know what they are in it for and why. The dog is trusting of humans and can’t even prepare the meagerest defense, and that just ain’t a fair fight.

That being said, FAKE FAKE FAKE! I work in FX as well, and this one doesn’t pass the laugh test. Those involved need some time in Leavenworth though.

Are you kidding? have you never heard of the Three Stooges? Or the Road Runner cartoons? Or, if you’d focus on the whole “that’s fake and it’s funny 'cause we know it”, what about the entire run of “Funniest home videos”? Or the Darwin awards? I mean, I laughed when I read about the guy who tested out his new home made cannon w/a golf ball, but it accidentally shot himself in the groin, killing him. I mean, I felt badly for his loved ones, but couldn’t get it out of my mind about "how do you get through the funeral service w/o giggling about the manner of death?

What do the Stooges or cartoons have to do with sport? They are scripted with the intent of causing laughter.

Seeing someone get cracked in the head for real is about as far from funny as it gets. I’ve been there. Anyone laughing at me would be very sorry, if I had anything to do about it.

Well there is old line, “If I slip on a banana peel and fall it is a tragedy, if you do, it is a comedy.”

Did you even read what you quoted? I mean the part about “if you’re going for the but Stooges are fake and this was real” part?

Darwin awards are about people dying. Folks still laugh.

That would seem a bit harsh, if this was indeed a fake and no actual puppy harmed.

Where is that quote? “If you’re going for the but Stooges are fake and that was real” is incoherent.

Folks have a fucked up sense of humor. What does any of this have to with sport, which is what I was referring to? Did you read any of what you quoted?

When you are a Soldier in the US Military, you are supposed to reflect honor on the uniform, not act like a jacktard.

I heard it as “Tragedy is when I get a splinter, comedy is when you fall in an open manhole cover.”

I have no idea. Is there some law against acting like a jacktard while a soldier? Not a snark, I honestly don’t know.

Would it be okay if these guys were just frat boys, uniform-less?

I paraphrased myself, after giving me permission. The direct quote, which you quoted in your post but apparently didn’t read was

which addresses your point about the Stooges and cartoons being fake. My paraphrase may have been less coherent, but you did, obviously, ignore the actual quote.

as for

translating your less than coherent response here, you seem to wonder how Darwin awards, where stories of people ending up accidentally dying through stupid actions of their own (which people then laugh at) relate to a story of some one getting injured durng a sports contest (which some people then found amusing). Hmmm. On the one hand, you have injuries resulting in death causing laughter, and on the other, folks getting injured but not dying causing laughter.

Huh. Nope, you’re still fucking obtuse.

The Stooges and cartoons use the fake violence to elicit laughter, and they do, because lots of people will laugh, find some level of amusement in accidental injuries. Hell, I’ve laughed at myself often enough when injured… I’ve got a really funny second degree burn story, for example, then there was the time I caused a $500 medical bill for a bruise when I tripped, going up carpeted stairs. I dressed to match the damn thing for weeks.

You might try laughing at yourself from time to time, I hear it’s an effective treatment for “stick up the ass” disease.

Yes there is, and yes it would.

You’ve “been there?” Are you using some special value for “cracked on the head?” Because I think most people have taken a solid thump to the noggin at least once in their lives. It’s not exactly a rare occurence that, having suffered it, gives you particular insight into its true comedy potential.

FWIW, one of the hardest times I’ve ever laughed was watching my (then) 68 year old father fall backwards off a step ladder. I mean, I ran up to see if he was okay, and if he’d been seriously hurt, I’d have stopped laughing pretty damn quick, but once I saw he was okay, I could hardly breath. Best example of why they print, “This is not a step,” on those things I’ve ever seen.

Or, hey, better yet, you ever see the YouTube video of the cop giving a gun safety demonstration in a high school classroom, who literally shoots himself in the foot? I understand the guy lost a toe because of that, but if you can still watch it without laughing, then there’s something seriously deficient in your sense of humor. Particularly the part where he limps over to the table with the shotgun, and half the students in the classroom yell out, “NO!” at the same time.

I would find nothing humorous in a public servant subjected to such duress! However, I cannot be sure as you provided no link so I can test this.

Myself, I think I would chuckle if the tables had been turned. I mean ‘Puppy throws Marine off a cliff’ I think would get at least a snort, if not an out and out laugh. I guess it would depend on how realistic the video looked though…

(My son is a Marine btw and he is definitely not happy over this…whether it’s a fake or not. He says if it had been one of HIS squad mates that guy would have been in for some serious lumps…)

The guy was actually a DEA agent. I’m sure you will find nothing funny about this. Nothing at all.

Sigh, it remains true.

…the man stll hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest…

Do we have any evidence that it’s not faked *or *that the dude is a real Marine, not just wearing a uniform??

I don’t care if it’s real or fake, I want this! Painted on black velvet.
