I’m wondering if they got Arnold Winkelried’s permission, or yours, Marley? Just curious - it’s a little jarring to think that I might see myself in an upcoming “17 Most Handsome Devils of the Internet” article.
They’re ants. There’s a scene in Un Chien Andalou where a character sees ants crawling around on his palms. Not seen in the picture is my “lobster telephone” (my cell phone with little red claws attached).
Fixed that for you. There is no article, and you didn’t read anything much at all.
This is just another great example of the increasing regurgitation of the internet, by which sites like BuzzFeed create almost no original content whatsoever, and generate clicks and ad impressions and money for themselves by nicking other people’s intellectual property and repackaging it as “slideshows” and “collections” and “Best ofs”.
It’s clear they just Google Image Searched for Halloween costumes of various artists. Marley’s pic is the #1 hit if you search for ‘salvador dali halloween costume’.
I assume that’s how Buzzfeed does most of its work. Still, the author thought the costume was awesome and it went out to a significant audience, so I’ll take it.
…indeed, and Buzzfeed has a number of pending lawsuits against them for using IP without permission. And in this case they not only watermarked the image without permission but they also credited the wrong person. The photographer most probably holds copyright on the image: not Arnold’s website.
Does Arnold Winkelreid still update his gallery. I ask because I submitted a picture of myself quite a while back, and it has not yet been posted there.
