Story here. According to that link, This Is Us actress (and AT&T employee Lily Adams)(and future Superdude “Girl Wonder,” unbeknownst to her) Milana Vayntrub has been tapped to play Squirrel Girl/Doreen Green in the new show.
Really, was there any way they were going to not have Squirrel Girl? Now all they need is some excuse to bring in She-Hulk, and they’ll have the permanent affection of all of the die-hard fans.
So, the original New Warriors comic is the comic that got me into collecting in the 90s, and I’m curious if the lack of Firestar anywhere in the MCU is because she’s a mutant, even though she is much more strongly associated with Spider-Man, the New Warriors or the Avengers.
I think it’s more likely that not enough people care about Firestar for them to bother.
This show seems very heavily influenced by the New Warriors relaunch from right before Civil War (and ultimately led to the inciting incident of that story.)
They are including MICROBE for christsakes. They have just added Squirrel Girl because she’s popular at the moment.
If anyone hasn’t seen it, check out James Gunn’s first super hero movie “The Specials” since this show is shaping up to be a spiritual successor to that.
It’s on Yahoo of all places. In an attempt to remind people that they still exist, Yahoo decided to begin streaming original series. Their flagship was Community, which they produced a sixth season for after it was cancelled by NBC. They also produced some original series; Burning Love, We Need Help, Sin City Saints, and Other Space. But the streaming site didn’t make back the costs of the shows and was shut down. But the episodes are still available.
Yeah, when I only knew her from the AT&T ads she didn’t make that much of an impression on me. She was attractive and all, but as the “straight” character she didn’t really have much to do other than be friendly. By the end of the first episode of Other Space I was crushing on her hard. Oh man, the episode where they lose power to the translators and she reverts to her native Uzbek …
She’s neither of those things. Her gimmick is that she consistently wins fights against people who should be well outside her weight class, but she does it on panel, and she uses previously established story elements or abilities to do it.
