Marvelous Movie I Missed the First Time Around: The Station Agent

Hi movie - lovers. I just saw “The Station Agent” and loved it. The acting was spectacular, the cinematagraphy lovely, the music perfect. Best quiet film I’ve seen in a long while. Was there a thread here about it? Why didn’t it get more awards? (I think I liked it better than “Lost in Translation”. So shoot me.

I hadn’t made the connection until now, but the movie does share a theme with “Lost in Translation” – they’re both about friendship.

“The Station Agent” was probably too quiet a film to be popular (everything in it is very understated), but it’s a real winner. It actually did win a quite few awards (BAFTA, various film critic awards, three Independent Spirit Awards), but was not the type of film for Oscar to notice.

It’s well worth seeing, though. Both Peter Dinklage and Patricia Clarkson are amazing.
