Marvel's Phase III Movie List

Well, not really.

So…black Batman. Good point. Who would watch that?

Aaaaaaaaaaaah! [Runs away wildly screaming]

The movies depend on the script and actors. I like Iron Man and Thor on the screen, but they still bring every comic I read to a grinding halt. Iron Man is really dry and Thor has that stupid font.

This is how I imagined the Black Panther. I could not come to terms with a billionaire African Prince fighting crime in New York. Never made sense. That’s part of the reason I loved Priest’s run on BP. And please Marvel, please, find some way to get Everett Ross into the movie! A more nerdy Phil Coulson could be hilarious.
I’m not hating the casting of Chadwick Boseman though I only know of two well received movies.

Never in a million years - ok, well , 40 - would I have dreamed while reading the Avengers in my youth that I would be eagerly awaiting Avengers movies to come out in 2019.

Uh, Black Panther ends up with one of the Infinity Gems. He’s been pretty central to the storylines spawning out of that, in addition to the acclaimed Priest run writing his book. He’s not just ethnic African Batman, he’s also animal senses guy and super-science guy and ruler of his own small country guy. And I think he’s sometimes been portrayed as being able to speak with the spirits of the dead.

Now, he’s got a bit of a problem as to a credible Rogues’ Gallery. It looks like they’re setting up for Klaw to be at least one of his foes, and Klaw is goofy. But Captain America: Winter Soldier actually made Batroc the Leaper not-uncool, so at this point I wouldn’t be surprised that they could pull off Armless Tiger Man or whoever else.

No shit. These are the movies I was dreaming about happening when I was reading Marvel comics as a kid.

The only (Marvel) Capt Marvel I’ve ever really cared for was Genis-Vell, in the (first) Peter David written series (the 2nd one got kinda wonky) and Rick Jones was the real star of that series. Otherwise it always just seems they’re just treading water with the name to make sure DC has to keep using Shazam in the title of the REAL Cap’s stuff.

No shit. I still remember my six year old self’s reaction to my first Avengers comic book (issue #2 it was). I still have its ragged remains.

This. I may or may not see the Carol Danvers movie, but the real Captain Marvel is actually an eleven year-old boy.

I’m surprised that the rights to Inhumans weren’t bound up with the Fantastic Four rights. Black Panther was originally introduced in FF as well, but was never close enough that you’d think of him as one of their supporting case; the Inhumans, on the other hand, were.

I’m also surprised that Nova isn’t in the works. The MCU doesn’t have a single YOUNG hero (I guess Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in the upcoming Avengers movie might change that?), and the seeds were well-sown in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Test footage from Avengers 2 just leaked: [LEAKED FOOTAGE] Avengers: Age of Ultron - (CIVIL WAR) Tony and Steve Scene - YouTube. Sets up Civil War nicely.

Wait, wasn’t there a solo Black Widow movie in the works? Where is that in the lineup?

The Black Widow movie was all fanboy rumor, unfortunately.

It would seem really out of place with what they are doing right now–cosmic stuff.

My feeling is that after Avengers 3/4, they switch focus to street-level stuff where Black Widow would work better.

You figure they are going to want to put Punisher, Ghost Rider and Blade to work somewhere.

Don’t forget Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist are coming to Netflix. Black Widow would make a better series, especially if it links with ol’ Hornhead.

I collected Ms. Marvel from issue #1. Is Ms. considered sexistly oppressive now? Are they going to retcon the original Captain Marvel completely out of the Marvel movie universe? That’s not cool, man!

Still hoping Benedict Cumberbatch isn’t Dr. Strange.

As I understand it, there’s a mess of intellectual property rights concerning the original Captain Marvel, that basically means nobody can do anything with him any more.

And while I wouldn’t mind seeing a Black Widow series, would Johansson agree to it? I think actors usually consider starring in a TV series to be a cut below movies, and she’s proven that she’s a big name in Hollywood now.

Ahem.
