Mary Mary, quite contrary, a garden MMP

That’s a great photo! It’d make a great jigsaw puzzle, too, if very difficult!

I’ve got 11 stuffed russets in the freezer, and I had enough filling left to top the caps that I’d cut off, so we’re having those for supper.

From the front yard front - the well is filled, the leftover gravel has been spread in our truck parking spot (BONUS!!) and the whole lawn has been tilled and leveled. He’s dragging something along now - I guess to rake out the roots and such. These guys work fast - I bet they’ll be done before noon! I’m going to have John look at the back yard when he’s done. Maybe I can have him do the same thing back there in the fall or next spring.

**FCD **popped in - he was running an errand so he decided to come see what they were doing. Lucky for me I was working in the kitchen and not napping - I’m sure he thinks I’m a bum all day…

Last year it was insisted that I build a garden of raised beds for us to have food so we would be prepared for the inevitable collapse of civilization (yes, seriously, she expects it all to end soon - fodder for another rant someday.) However the garden was not well tended and the output was meagre.

This year as that home is mostly abandoned (this is the last month of my obligation) the landlord has lovingly resurrected the garden to it’s glory and it is a beautiful sight to see. I am happy for her, and to see my efforts bore fruit (well, technically will bear vegetables.)

Here at the new place I thought about a garden but I am just too overloaded with life right now. However my friends the homeowners have a garden which I tilled for them yesterday (I do have a good tool collection) and between them & my dad I believe I will receive some overstock.

Perhaps next year.

**ShinyCat **- the first recipe here is quick and easy and very yummy. The one I submitted is tasty but not chicken-y enough. I’ve made this with lots of extra chicken and served it on crusty rolls as sammiches. It was a huge hit!

Heck, just look thru the entire Mumper recipe site - there’s some good stuff in there!

Someone has found the 102nd use for a dead cat.

Ooo, that looks good. I actually know someone who has way way too many crackers, and I may take some from them instead of buying any.

Exciting. After talking about it we decided we’re not making our lives crazy enough, so we’ll be hosting another international student come July. He’s supposed to come from Germany this time.

Good morning everyone and a happy Monday morning to all.

Moorland Riever, what a wonderful topic! I don’t have a garden, I barely have a balcony/patio (I’m on the second floor, but that’s where my front door is). I do have two flower pots out there, but nothing in them yet. I may put in some herbs, but it depends. There is a huge pine tree right in front of the balcony, so that spot does not get much sun at all. Even the shade-loving plants I put out there last year didn’t do well. I’ll see what will happen - I think the herb plants may be the best thing to try. Your flowers are very beautiful, btw - where are the pics?

Hope everyone has a great day today.

**BBBobbio **- that is disturbing on *sooooooooo *many levels…

How does one have too many crackers? I mean, does said friend buy crackers, forget he/she bought crackers and buy even more crackers? Is this person randomly gifted crackers from time to time? I find this intriguin’. Then again, I lurve crackers of all kinds so I can’t imagine havin’ too many. They’re a big go to snack for da bear.

In other news, it’s N.O.L. time. YAY!!!

They have parties about once a week, where you’re supposed to bring food (they provide drinks and some food, and fun things to do). A ton of people brought crackers. The crackers didn’t get eaten and got left there. They’ve had a party just to get rid of them. It didn’t work. People aren’t allowed to bring more.

No kidding. But it did cause several guffaws around irk this morning.

Yeah, I suppose crackers might not be one of those things that sell well on ebay.

The solution to that problem: bring in some cheeseballs.

<snerk> BBBobbio said cheeseballs! <snerk>

Afternoon!

I tend to have the Black Thumb of Doom when it comes to flowers/plants etc which is why I don’t have any plants in the house. But this year I decided to try growing things in pots on the patio. So I have 2 pots of heirloom tomatoes and one of cherry tomatoes, a pepper plant and a strawberry plant. All of which so far are growing well. I also planted two planters out front that are full of vibrant pink and purple pansies and something else that I can’t remember the name of but they are growing and doign well and putting on a nice show of colour out front. I have impressed myself that I could do that.

I am headed out to travel to Tulsa to go assist with what was my previous job in recruiting. My old boss begged me to go help out the new guy and as I don’t have a lot on this week I figured why not as it it gets me out of the office and it is a ton of fun when you don’t have to do it everyday for your job. Plus there will be nice food and alcohol.

Holy crap, I’m an idiot.

I’m really bad about actually recording stuff in my checkbook. And I sent in my rent check way early this month. It still hasn’t cleared (I’m assuming they do them all at once). When that, and one other check clear, I’ll be about $11 overdrawn. I’ve got five dollars in my wallet, and about $7 in my savings I can transfer over (I already transferred the rest, but I don’t like to completely clear out the savings, because it’ll close automatically if it’s left empty too long).

I’m not panicking, because I get paid either this Wednesday or the next one (I have to go look). And I have a bunch of change I could deposit somehow (anybody know if Chase will take coins?). But that was freaking stupid.

Look for a coin star inside a credit union. They don’t have the surcharge.

I can’t imagine any bank not taking change, altho they might balk at a pillowcase full of pennies during rush hour… I bet most of them have change counting machines to make short work of a deposit.

ShinyCat coins would have to be rolled before they would be accepted. Banks are not thrilled by copious amounts of loose change.

In other news… don’t lie. It ain’t nice and you will get caught. Specifically:

Don’t lie to me.
Don’t say on a work search record that you applied for a position but you were not hired. Such things can and will be verified.
Don’t insist to me that you were not hired even after confronted with the evidence.
Don’t tell me your employer is lying about the employment and wage verification document I have in my hand.
Don’t, if you insist on lying (lieing?), apply for a loan, give my name as a contact for wage verification (especially since this is training, not employment) and act surprised when the person who calls tells me about other employment you reported on the loan application. This is how I got suspicious and thus called the place that you said did not hire you only to find out you were hired.

Now go away from me forever, Liar McLiarson, Mayor of Lieville.

So, how’s your day goin’?

I could tell you, but it’d be a lie.
