Does anyone else remember putting ripped up pieces of masking tape on a bottle and then covering it with shoe polish? The finished product looked like this.
I have no idea what made that suddenly pop into my head after 40+ years but it got me to try and remember what other crafts people used to do “back in the day”. Another one was macrame. What artsy things did you used to do?
Yeah. We did it with colored tissue paper and clear acrylic, at camp or in art class as a kid.
And Potholders.
Huh, I never in my life saw that masking-tape-and-shoe-polish-on-a-bottle craft before. Cool.
I remember 1970s string art, which is apparently making something of a comeback at present.
I remember that. It was pitched as a “fine leather-covered flask for your dad”
I had made one of those wine bottles. What a strange thing it was. I had completely forgotten about it.
I occasionally make woodcut puzzle pics.

Beautiful!
I remember breaking up solid color floor tiles with a hammer and using the pieces to make mosaic patterns for small things like hot plates. Some of the other kids were quite artistic and would make nice scenes. I think I made a house.
I still do that one!
