Matt Damon, STFU!

Actually Pubs tend to claim that she simply was.

To be fair, Mr. Damon has more foreign policy experience than Ms. Palin.

And Obama?

There’s very little in the way of shortcomings about Palin that can’t also be said of Obama.

Palin is an Obama-quality speaker? She sounded like a petulant teenager in her convention speech. The only thing missing was that it wasn’t punctuated with snotty little tsk’s and an occasional “whatever …” thrown in. If she’s Obama-quality in speechifying, then I’m fucking Demosthenes.

Well, she doesn’t stutter, stumble, say “uh” and “you know” fifty times while hemming and hawing and can stay articulate even without a teleprompter. So, yeah, she’s nothing like Obama at all.

And you went into it (Palin’s speech) with an open mind and neutral expectations, I’m sure.

At any rate, I can point to similarly biased Republicans who think Obama is wooden, phony and full of shit, himself.

Well, I was pretty open considering I’d never even heard her voice before watching it, yes. I had no idea what to expect, so when Kimmy Gibler showed up, yes I was a little taken aback.

I’ll give her props for not peeing in her pants having been propped up in front of an audience of national proportions as I probably would have, were it me. But that just doesn’t cut the mustard.

And they would be every bit as full of shit as you when you pronounce Palin to be an Obama quality speaker.

Fucking Helen Keller could figure out that Palin couldn’t carry Obama’s jock to a podium.

Fabulous. She can read a teleprompter well.

Big fucking kudos there.

Btw, thanks Skip. At the time you posted this I was in midst of activity in several threads, and I thought you were calling me a putz for posting a photo of Landrieu in the other thread, what with my being a conservative and all. I didn’t realize that I had evidently copied the link to her after Damon’s and that it was the one still in my clipboard when I posted the link.

And I haven’t really heard Palin speak extemporaneously because, outside of her Charlie Gibson interview (which I missed) … I don’t see any proof that she ever has.

In fact, from what I’ve read about her remarks in that interview, it seems she’s had all the proper political spin, obfuscation and talking points drilled into her like she was Raymond Shaw.

Didn’t Damon confess that he’d never actually voted? Why give this clown any attention at all? is opinions are worthless anyway-he makes lousy movies.
I find the criticism of palin funny-Obama has never managed a business, sponsored a bill, or done anything except “community organizing”. This qualifies him to be president? And Joe Biden-I’d nominate him for president-of the “Hair Club for Men”-Sy Perling, are you listening?

I swear to god, she sounds exactly like Judy Tenuta. And the shit she says is just as bizarre.

By that rationale we will be electing him president in about 30 years. Or don’t you remember Saint Reagan?

Matt Damon 2036!

 I linked to a transcript of her on-mike conversation with Mike Murphy, another conservative commentator. She described the choice of Palin as a “bullshit political” choice. They discussed it as a “cynical” choice, offensive to Kay Bailey Hutchison. I do believe I already said all this. Didn’t you read it?

So, the logical conclusion to regarding it as a bullshit political choice is that she is not a good candidate for the office of VP. Describing the outcome as likely a disaster is the logical extension of that belief.

I’m frankly not surprised that you didn’t read the link - I doubt you read anything that differs from the cartoon-like construction of reality you’ve built in your head.

Tough call for me. OT1H I get irked by actors pretending they’re political experts, otoh I agree with most of what he said. Ultimately I’ll say “actors, shut up and act” just for consistency and bipartisanship sake. Besides, this wasn’t anywhere near as good as his Sarah Silverman video.

Obama never did anything but community organizing? False. And fucking stupid, since he was only a community organizer for 3 years, from 1985-1988. What do you think he’s been doing for the last 20 years? If you can’t answer that, use wikipedia to fight your ignorance.

Obama never sponsored a bill? Wrong. And idiotically so.

And just today, reported on NPR, she as much as said we would have to engage Russia militarily if they attacked Georgia, after the latter joins NATO. Yes I know that’s what the the treaty says, but I didn’t think anyone with a particle of sense wants to start a fight with our old nuclear Cold War rival. The potential risks are unacceptable.

He was also a professor of constitutional law for 12 years at U. Chicago (mostly as adjunct, admittedly, but U. Chicago School of Law ain’t some Jubiliation T. Cornpone Bible College and Law Skool).

And now we have Pamela Anderson of all people feeling she has some sort of standing to make a political comment:

I can’t stand her,” Pam blurted out. “She can suck it!"

The reason I put this concise, intelligent comment here in this thread is that the report then uses it as a springboard for Damon’s take.

On some of these bills I believe he was a cosonsor, but so what? Sponsoring a bill merely means he introduced it, either individually or as one of a group, and not that he was the one who actually wrote it.

This from Wiki:

A* sponsor is also sometimes called a “primary sponsor.”[2]

It should not be assumed that a bill’s sponsor actually drafted it. The bill may have been drafted by a staff member, by an interest group, or by others.[3] In the Senate, multiple sponsorship of a bill is permitted.[2]

In contrast to a sponsor, a “cosponsor” is a senator or representative who adds his or her name as a supporter to the sponsor’s bill.*

So she should have lied, is that you’re point?

ETA: Which of course, had she done so would have opened her up to criticism from the ilk for not knowing what the treaty says, and then using that to try to undermine her suitability for office.

[Mr. Rogers]Can you say "Damned if you do; damned if you don’t? Yeah, I thought that you could.[/Mr. Rogers]
