Friday night at the Portland Trailblazer Dallas Mavericks NBA playoff game, a 13 year old girl was singing the national anthem. Near the end, her mind went blank and she started to panic and could not remember the words.
In one of the most touching, classy acts I have ever witnessed, Maurice Cheeks, the coach of Portland (who are a bunch of freaks, if you follow basketball at all) walked over and helped her finish the song, singing along with her.
As they finished he put his arm around her and gave her a hug as she said a big relieved "thank you " to him. He then went back to the bench and tried to coach this “team”.
Hopefully they will be showing this clip on the morning shows all week.
Wow, finally something from Whitsitt’s (GM for Port. TB) organization that reflects good on the city. I can’t wait untill Dallas finishes them up. I hate the team and would love to have them drop all the players and start over.
Heh, if you mean Nowitzki. Yea he’s a great player and there are some more really good european players (serbian), but the whole league just sucks. Anyway we’ve got soccer & a little bit of football =)
