According to the corporate web site, the woman singing “Blue Skies” in the Hewlett Packard commercials is Maxine Sullivan.
I, for one, am smitten (how’s that for a quaint word?). Something about her voice and delivery appeals to me - maybe its the phrasing. Anyway, anyone out there heard anything else by Maxine Sullivan?
I think she’s most famous for her swingy version of “Loch Lomond”. She also made a brief (but well promoted in the trailer) cameo in 1938’s Going Places. (It was okay for a post-code movie. A handful of funny jokes, great showstopping musical number (Mutiny in the Nursrey), embarassingly racist subplot involving the servants…). Anyway, “Loch Lomond”, “Blue Skies”, those are basically her greatest hits.
