May I Introduce Myself?

Well, here goes!

I’m going to sneak in here and take the SpiceTea Plunge while the goats are sound asleep over there in the corner. Shhhh! Don’t wake them up!

I first found out about the SDMB during the Polycarp rescue through a member here. I was truly touched by everyone’s thoughtfulness and generosity during that time. After lurking about the board from that time on til now, I decided that I just had to join (and I was dying to look up all of ** Rue De Day’s ** writings!)

I really enjoy the wit, intelligence and warmth shown by so many here, I just could’t stay away! So, here I am!

Here’s a little bit about me:

I am 47 yrs. old, married, with 4 children, ages 25, 21, 16 and 9.
I’ve been a Christian since the age of 7 and was actually baptized by my own dad soon after that… (he was a Chaplain in the Army). I was born in Ft. Worth, TX while my dad was attending Theological Seminary. He decided to join the Army, instead of becoming a Baptist preacher, like his father. We lived in several states, then lived in Germany for 3 years. We eventually moved to El Paso, TX. I met my husband at our Baptist Church and after I attended 1 year at Oklahoma Baptist University, we got married. We moved up here to Minnesota, along with my husband’s parents a year later. We’ve been here ever since.

As I mentioned in another thread, I’m now on permanent disability due to kidney disease and a hip condition which makes it very hard for me to move. My hips are very stiff, so I am pretty much housebound. So I have lots of time to enjoy this board, along with several others I have found.

Well, I’m going back to bed now. I just thought I’d get the introductions over with.

Oh, good! That pesky goat is still asleep!

I’m out of here!

Welcome to the board.

I can’t imagine living in the barren tundra of Minnesota being fun with your hip condition. Maybe you should pester your husband to move somewhere warmer and hope they thaw out. Being homebound sucks. (I’ve been for the past month and hate it.)

The goat never sleeps. He sees all.

And we brought the snowshoes, and the hot glue gun.

So, there’s just no getting out of it…

But maybe the goat will be a little more gentle because of the hip condition. I wouldn’t put money on it, but it’s a nice thought. Who’s bringing the calamari?

Welcome!

That’s what I was afraid of! Gulp!

** Aesiron **, I’d love to move back down south (all my family is there…in Texas and Oklahoma), but my husband does not want to go through a big move like that, so I will just make the best of it up here until he retires. :dubious:
The weather isn’t as cold in the winter now as it was when we first moved up here, so it isn’t too bad living here.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Well, if you’ve done full-immersion baptism, you’ll find the part of the initiation with the calamari very … um …

Welcome!

The gulp was in response to ** Bosda’s ** post. :smack:

Gentle, yes, please be gentle!

very slimy!?!

May I Introduce Myself?
No.

Welcome

Ha Ha Ha…I was waiting for someone to say that!

Glad to have another fellow Minnesotan on board! Welcome!

Thanks, ** yellowval **

I’m really loving it here!

See, global warming ain’t all bad

[sub]Welcome![/sub]

I’m housebound too.

Because of the dope.
And the goat.

I’m glad we got the goat back from the shop. That loaner-llama just wasn’t getting the job done. You’d think that with all these newbies ponying up the bucks, Ed could spring for some more livestock. But noooooooooooo…all we hear is “Cecil” and “expenses” and “Dom Perignon.”

Oh, well. The goat may be high-milage, but he’s still frisky!

Boy, you’re not kidding! I’m sure glad that’s over with! I’m going to go take a nice long nap.

Wake me up at 4:30, please.

Thanks.

Over with? Oh, no, no, no. That was just the fluffer.

Not unless you’re a man of wealth and taste.

Welcome, and your little goat, too.
