I work with several die-hard republicans. One of whom is one of those colorful sorts that deeply believe that Clinton was a full blown communist working for the Chinese.
Me, I get funny looks, 'cause I say that it doesn’t matter.
I feel that every politician, Gore, Bush, Clinton, Perot, all of them, are all crooked. They all do things that are illegal, “immoral”, or against the public opinion.
The only difference between Clinton and anyone else is that Clinton got caught, and he wasn’t able to spin doctor his way out of it. That’s it.
I think the country may actually be run by the beaurocracy now; the leader is becoming singularly unimportant. A kind of figurehead, much as is the royalty in England.
Beside which, I also see precious little difference between the major parties lately; no matter what they say, they both do the same things.

I agree, Tristan. I think true democracy has ground to a halt in North America. Like Jello Biafra says, whichever party you pick in this duopoly, what you’re getting is the ‘corporate’ party.

But then again, I do have a shady past, with a bit of criminal activity (never caught), drugs (also never caught), and mild sexual scandal (no being caught needed, wife is a willing participant). Ah well.
I agree with you, Tristan. My boss is a beyond die-hard Republican who constantly brings up Clinton and his escapdes. I intentionally bring up Watergate, Iran-Contra, and anything else his party’s cronies have been involved in. You’d think Clinton was the only president who had ever done anything inappropriate in the White House. Can you imagine how things would be if CNN and the tabloids had been around when Kennedy was in office?
