Maybe it's not a bug. Maybe it's an undcoumented feature.

This is an effort to try and isolate a bug that I think I’ve found with the new software.

In a recent thread I posted in GQ, the subject line I typed in read:

Origin of expression “shaggy dog story”

However, the software truncated it at the quote, leaving the thread topic as Origin of Expression

Then, I posted to a thread in GD. When responding to a thread, you can enter a one-line subject that displays in bold at the top. In that box, I typed:

What the heck, I’ll take the “pro” side

However, when the post actually appeared, the subject line reads What the heck, I’ll take the

I’ve seen other thread titles with quotes in them, so what happened with my first post? (If this thread title does not contain “A test” in quotes at the end, the same truncation has occured here.) Do I need to use the ampersand equivalent for the quote marks?

As for my second post, there appears to be a bug that causes the software to drop anything in the “subject” line as soon as it encounters a quote. Or perhaps this is by design. Any thoughts? JDavis? Mods? Cecil? Bueller? Bueller?

I suspect those quotes have something to do with it; vB uses quotes in coding.

Lemme play with this a bit and see what I come up with.

This happened to me, too, when I posted my note about “86” in “Comment on Cecil’s Columns.”

I forgot to mention that CKDexter Haven fixed it for me.
