Who is listed as the sender? Have you verified it? Look I really really really hope this e-mail is authentic, it just worries me that there has been no press conference nor is it on the Campaign website. Something of this magnitude would normally be coordinated with the Obama campaign and plastered all over the Media. It is hard to believe that with so many votes up for grabs in NASCAR country this would just slip out in an e-mail.
In TN it wouldn’t matter if they flipped them or not, since Obama’s so far behind McCain here that he hasn’t bothered to campaign here. (AFAIK, his only visit to TN after getting the nomination was for the debate.)
It says it’s from nc@barack.com, which is the same address I’ve been getting other emails regarding Obama’s North Carolina campaign.
Another thing that worries me is I am on the Obama campaign mailing list and get several text and e-mail updates everyday of campaign news. Nothing about this so far. This is like Reagan appearing and endorsing Obama yet nothing besides rumors, and blog posts. I am getting more skeptical by the minute. God I hope I am wrong…
No offense, Tuckerfan, but I find the term “PUMA” a wee offensive. It’s basically saying, “If you’re a member of such and such party, you MUST vote for such and such party!” Yes, IF woman are voting for McCain because Palin is a woman, that’s stupid. HOWEVER, to say they should vote for Obama out of some notion of “party loyalty” is equally so. I plan on voting for Tom Corbett for AG here in PA-does that make me a PUMA?
Now, not nearly as cool as a cornfield or the seashore, but a friend from work did see an Obama jack-o-lantern at least…
I need to correct this: it’s nc@barackobama.com
Junior Johnson is a Democrat. His Wikipedia page lists the endorsement.
The wiki article links to…a blog.
As i have said, John McCain scares me:
-look at his blinking eyes-a dead giveaway 9early onset alzheimers disease)
-the bizarre utterances (“let’s kick Russia out of the G-8”
-unreality: he thinks it is 1964
-his rantings are really going to lose us friends around the world
McCain is just out of it (like Reagan in his 2nd term)
Tuckerfan isn’t calling anybody names, he’s using the term they made up for themselves. It means both “People United Means Action” and “Party Unity My Ass.”
PUMA is a media created term, not my own, and refers only to women who are going to vote for McCain over Obama (or in other ways cast their vote for someone other than Obama) and not someone who choses to vote for a candidate other than a Democrat in any contest outside of the Presidential run.
Its as stupid and half-witted as the “soccer mom,” “NASCAR dad,” etc. crap that the media comes up with every election.
not being a NASCAR fan I don’t know Junior Johnson. Is this really a big deal?
To defend the media a little, I think most of these moronic terms - I’d like to add “state park dads” and “security moms” - are coined by political consultants and then picked up by the press.
I’m not a NASCAR fan, either, actually. I’ve heard of Junior Johnson - he’s an old school race car driver, one of the founding fathers of NASCAR. When my 5 year old gets home from school, I’ll ask him - he’s the expert in our household :).
Also, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Johnson endorsed Obama - he’s a lifelong Democrat and gave Hillary Clinton the tour of the NC Auto Racing Hall of Fame during the primaries.
Not trying to be snarky here, but a race car driver endorsing Obama is huge? A race car driver? Why does that hold any more weight than, say, if Don Mattingly (yeah, I’m old) endorses Obama?
Because, in certain parts of the country, the only thing bigger than Jeeebus(!) is NASCAR.
You have never been to the South have you?
Yup, the polls have been swinging Obama’s way for weeks in the South, he got Colin Powell’s endorsement a week ago, but a NASCAR legend, well, THAT’s huge.
Whether it should matter is not the issue. The fact is that a lot of people in the South would care more about Junior Johnsons endorsement than Powells. indeed. BTW isn’t  frowned on in GD?
Not to my knowledge, but I could be wrong. Either way, I think a couple of people here are overstating the importance of endorsement and insulting the intelligence of Southerners.
