This really makes me want to hurl. This is why I’m using the words “if” and “hope” exclusively for the next week.
On a day when McCain canceled events due to rain, this is what Obama was doing
In fairness, remember William Henry Harrison? McCain does.
Also, I think it was just raining where Obama was, and may have been snowing where McCain was. Much as I can’t stand him, I also don’t want to see him die of pneumonia, either.
Pew: Obama Leads By 19 Among Already Voted
In addition to Texas, other “Red” states I predict will go Blue:
Georgia
Montana
North Dakota
Kentucky
The way McCain’s campaign has been completely snakebit lately, it was probably hailing frozen balls of human shit.
I’ll cheerfully bet you that both Texas and Kentucky go for McCain.
The other three, you never know. But I’m delighted to see the RNC throwing money into Montana at the last minute.
Kinda like Southerners in early 1865, excitedly reading Arthur Fremantle’s Three Months in the Southern States, and its predictions of a certain Confederate victory.
Is there any way to get a transcript or something? My computer has issues with sound sometimes and I’m not getting it to work right now.
I can’t link to a transcript, but here’s an article that started Rachel Maddow talking:

Montana and North Dakota are possible. Georgia is doable, though tough. But Texas? Kentucky? I’m sorry, but that’s just not going to happen. Of late, McCain has maintained a lead of more than ten percent in each state, substantially so in KY’s case. Now, maybe the Texas polls are underestimating how much minority and white support Obama has, and maybe they also underestimate the turnout, and a 5% change in all three of those might be enough to make it close. But Kentucky has only 8% blacks, and that’s just not enough to win a state that conservative. I think this is one of the states Clinton won that Obama just can’t. Not this time, and probably not next time either.
I’m actually trying to decide if voting early is the way to go this year. I posted in another thread that voting is a ritual for me - I always show up at about 6:30 a.m. and proudly wear my “I Voted” sticker all day, but I’m starting to wonder if it’s a better thing this year to vote early. Any other Colorado voters have any advice or personal experiences to share?
The campaign is apparently still chipper.
Odd thing, too: one poll shows him within seven in Pennsylvania, and that’s touted by the conservative commenter who passed on the info as a GOOD thing. Isn’t that still pretty far behind for a week away? Is it a sign of desperately needing good news?
IIRC, some people have pointed out that it’d be quite likely under the McCain plan that employers would ditch their health insurance plans and tell the employees to buy theirs on the “open market.”
Can you say chappaquiddick?
This probably won’t be resolved in time for the election but if it turns out to be true then the next asshole who mentions Chappaquiddick is going to get nut punched…
from the article:
Just another comment to those who see the polls “tightening” … look at those RCP graphs, especially the lower one that shows the spread. Some vaciallating up and down but pretty damn stable for all of October. Mainly a gradual increase in Obama’s numbers with McCain’s numbers having some better and some worse days.
Apologies if someone has already linked to this, but I thought it was neat: 2008 Early Voting statistics
And by the way, I have found, officially, the wingnuttiest of the wingnutty right-wing blogs.
Behold the majesty that is Victoria Jackson (of SNL fame):
Okay, maybe not the wingnuttiest, but pretty nutty.
Holy shnikes. I kept thinking I’d get to the part where she says “ROFL JK LOLOL!” but it never came. I love how in one sentence she say Barack is a Muslim Commie Terrorist, and in the next chastizes the rest of us for not being smart enough to notice. :smack::smack::smack:
I maintain that all swing states where Obama is leading that are governed by Republicans will be won by McCain through voter suppression. There’s no doubt in my mind the Republicans plan massive fraud.
Fortunately, a few swing states are held by Democratic governors, will run reasonably fair elections, and Obama will likely win anyway.
I don’t think so. Crist just extended Florida’s early voting hours, which has been criticized by republicans as giving the election to Obama. I think most politicians know that Obama is going to win this thing no matter what they do, and they won’t risk being caught cheating for a hopeless cause.
You mean like the Republican Governor of Florida who just extended voting hours to allow as many people as possible to vote? I agree that voter suppression by Repubs is a problem. But just look at the McCain campaign, do you really think they have their shit together like Rove and Co. did? Do you think the republican party is organized and well disciplined enough to succeed? Do you think Obama and his five thousand lawyers are so incompetent that they will be defeated by a bunch of transparent incompetent fucks? Don’t get me wrong I really really really think voter suppression is happening and it is a real problem but I also think you are being a tad mellow dramatic…
