McCain not as forked as the McCain Forked thread, but still forked

As a sort of report from the front lines, I live in Lancaster, PA, and I voted on the way to work this morning, at 7:15 AM. I’ve voted at this polling place in 2002, 2004, and 2006, and I have NEVER seen this many people there this early! There was actually a line of 7 people when I got there at 7:15 (doesn’t sound like much, but I usually get there at that time and sail right through without even seeing another voter). By the time I left at around 7:30, there were at least 18 to 20 people waiting to vote. Seriously, I have NEVER seen this many people at that station in the last six years. And it was a diverse crowd, too, not anywhere near lily-white. I think Pennsylvania’s going to disappoint the Republicans, folks.

From your fingers to God’s eyes…

I don’t think most Republicans really believed they were going to win Pennsylvania, anyway. It was a Hail Mary strategy.

McCain’s chances of winning rest almost entirely on voter suppression now.

That’d be an interesting 3 Stooges skit…

McCain has apparently forgone his election day ritual of going to the movies, opting instead to spend the last possible moments campaigning. Conversly, Obama is playing his traditional game of basketball, which he did during every primary vote. That’s it folks, stick a superstitious fork in McCain - he’s DONE.

“At this particular time”? They do that every major election.

Forging official government seals is a real knee-slapper!

Some dickweed shill by the name of Brad Blakeman tried to cite Obama’s “taking a 767 campaign plane to go visit Grandma” as a tu quoque defense after Palin’s $150,000 fancy-dress shopping spree hit the news. The host of the show he was on pretty much laughed in his face (IIRC, he later commented that he wasn’t sure whether to be more stunned by the gross insensitivity of the gross stupidity of the gambit).

We had one of those on our door yesterday, as did our next-door neighbors whose door I can see from our window. I liked that it said you can still vote if you have unpaid taxes, parking tickets, or the like- I know trying to intimidate people like that is one of the tactics of the scum who would like to deprive people of their right to vote.

We’re going to go vote this afternoon after Mr. Neville gets home. He’s coming home around 2:30ish- he knows this is more important than anything at work could be. We will wait until we vote, even if that’s after 9 tonight. A 500-km asteroid impact, a Republican zombie horde led by Gerald Ford, or both wouldn’t stop me from going to the polls and voting for Obama. (Voting would be totally futile in the former case, since I don’t think either candidate has a good plan of what to do if the oceans start boiling, but I’d vote anyway. Some things you just have to do, even if they’re futile, and this is one of them.)

Thanks for the heads-up. We’ll bring something to read with us.

So which of the two candidates has a good plan for the Republican zombie hordes?

I think McCain would be likely to die of shock and immediately join the Republican zombie hordes. That would work for him, I suppose, but not be so good for me.

I was going to early vote last week but looked at the lines, remembered previous elections and their lack of lines, and went to vote before work.

It was INSANE! They had to divide us up by last initial, but regardless the letter, I would have had ONE WHOLE PERSON in front of me.

Hmmmm, wait in line to beat the rush by voting early or wait until election day? An hour or more versus five minutes? Looks like I made the right choice. I do have a more flexible schedule than some people, but I suspect many of those people could’ve waited and saved themselves some time. On the other hand, filling out out my ballot and leaving lacked some of the bandwagon thrill.

Beautiful, just beautiful. You know the pic of Obama with the caption, “Everybody chill the fuck out - I got this!”? He really does, doesn’t he?

I thought that had already happened. He sure seemed like one of the undead during the debates.

Heck, during the one debate he shambled around like an extra from a zombie flick.

Just got back from voting and going to Trader Joe’s. Two more votes in PA for Obama. I think we were the only ones in the Trader Joe’s who weren’t wearing Obama pins.

That’s true- with his tongue out, no less!

OK, so do you think he’s the leader of the Republican zombie horde, or is Gerald Ford?

Oh, and yay Steelers. There will be extra joy in Pittsburgh if Obama pulls this one off.

And that is, IMO, exactly the attitude we will need in our next President, to get our economy back on track.

Regardless whether McCain is forked a lot, forked a littel, spooned into Pail, or triumphant, we’re going to know pretty soon and this thread is long enough.
