Hey, Fox ran Obama’s biography just before the McCain biography and for Fox it was complimentry of Obama. They didn’t call him the antichrist and they didn’t come and say the “n” word.
“Might’ve” reflects how people actually speak. Saying “might have” quickly very easily leads to the “h” disappearing and the “a” changing to a generic unstressed vowel (though I find that my pronunciation has strong hints of the broad “a” of the original). It’s a natural process and not a particularly drastic change to the words. the part that’s spelled 've in the colloquialism is virtually identical to how “of” is pronounced–which is really more like “uv” anyway.
While I could get behind a proscription against writing “might’ve” I doubt you’ll have much success in completely eliminating that pronunciation from quick speech. “Might of”, on the other hand, is incorrect. It’s a reevaluation of the morpheme and doesn’t make sense from a grammar perspective.
