His intentions are unquestionably good but this song from Paul McCartney does absolutely nothing for me. The tune, chorus, everything just sounds really bad for some reason - to me it is unlistenable. I saw the “video” on MTV (basically shots of him in the studio) and it was really bad too.
Am I alone on this or is it just a “generation thing” (I’m 22)??
It does seem a bit simple, especially considering the source. Not a very catchy tune either. And his offer to “fight” for his freedom seems to contradict what (to me anyway) seemed to be the overwhelming sentiment of the Beatles music, that being peace and love. Overall I agree it seems hollow and and without much redeeming value other than to show that McCartney needs to find himself another lyrical genius to write with.
