OK, You are my last hope! Hopefully one or more of our smart members will be able to help. I need to know the meaning of the word “coptonogonus”, which is part of a scientific name…Stenocactus coptonogonus.

I’ve tried my limited Latin and Greek dictionaries, but have run into a blank wall. So your help is appreciated.

coptonogonus surely is Greek. It seems to me it refers to a characteristic that has to do with being toothed or having a milled edge or similar.
