Meaning of Your Name or Need your seeds purified?

If you follow my full name all the way it is:
Girl (or Female) Messenger Of the forset

I know my parents didn’t realize that they had given me such a complete name when they gave it to me. They were surprised several years ago when I told them what my name meant.

My screen name is from a minor character in a science fiction novel and also my cat’s name.

My real-life first and last names derive from the same root interestingly enough. Both mean a meadow or open place.

Soooo… I’m essentially like a pueblo village…

…redundant.
sigh.

My real name is Kenda. According to what I’ve managed to find, it means “nine”, or possible “November”. Gwuh? My screen name means “long white radish”. ~_^

Tengu are creatures (demons, according to some) of variously birdlike or human appearance and demonic, michevous, or helpful temperment in Japanese myth.

My real name, could, depending how you want to go with James, could translate (from Anglicized Latinized Hebrew, English and Gaelic) as ‘Little Usurper’. I kinda like that.

Well, November was originally the ninth month, until Julius Cesar (July) and Augustus Cesar (August) stuck in their own months.

Gila means “joy” or “happiness” in Hebrew. (See the sig for a pronunciation guide.) My middle name is Bayla, which is Yiddish for “beautiful” (I don’t like the middle name much - it’s old fashioned and not particularly mellifluous to my ears). I guess my full name means “Joy(ous) Beautiful Person Who Lives By the Granary”, or “Joy(ous) Beautiful Person Who Collects Grain Taxes”.

I’m more confused as to why either of those makes for a good name. ~_^ Most people have much cooler meanings.

Salvatore: Italian for “savior” (or so I’ve been told).

Zappo: Corruption of my college nickname, “Zippo.”

Zap!

Kathryn, from greek kathos, meaning purity.

Medea, a mythic figure who I admire and feel for. (Her own powerful personality and passions could not be squelched by man, love, or society. I can’t help but admire that level of passion for living as yourself.)

here’s a tangent for you…

running names through the spell check of a word processor to see what the suggested corrections are…last names work best

hours of fun

the suggested correction for my last name was “maleness”

my testosterone level was at an all time high for 48 hours after that one!

Julie - Youthful One

So what happens when I get old? Will I have to change it to whatever name means “Elderly One”?

malus - I worked for a guy whose last name is Worsley - MS Word comes up “Weasel” in spellcheck. That fit him to a “T”, too.

Sarah means princess I think. Nothing spectacular.
However, a few years ago, my roommate Theresa and I were looking through a baby name book. It said her name meant
“Reaper.” Heh heh. Spent the rest of our cohabitation assuring her that I didnt FEAR her…

Fear not(¿?) Zappo, because your name really means “savior”. Now if you can only find out what are you a savior of…hmm?

I have seen my given name defined as “black man” more than once. For clarification, I am a white girl who has long ago given up trying to understand her parents…

Let’s see… My first name means “Small and wise.” My middle name means “reborn” and my last name, if I pick a verb def instead of a noun(I thought the rule was you couldn’t use the word in the definition. this is the only one that doesn’t!) one means “To crowd or squeeze into a limited space”
So I guess it’s “Small, wise person reborn to be crowded into a limited space.” Does this mean I was taller in a past life?

As for my screen name it means " a little elf" just specific about which type of elf, I guess.

My mom picked my RL name, Jessica, off an Ivory Soap ad. It’s Shakespearean (he invented it, putting me in an elite class with Mirandas!) and means, roughly, “gift”.

.:Nichol:.

Thanks for the confirmation, Karl. If I knew what I was supposed to save, I’d tell you.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Manly Noble Nobleman

Really.

Oops. That should have been “Noble Manly Nobleman”.

My real life name means pure.
Nortia is the Tuscan goddess of fate, healing and fortune which I found out because of this thread.
