I’m not entertained so much as disgusted. I don’t mind the occasional ‘‘mock the racist’’ thread but this is getting fucking ridiculous. I don’t want to hang out around racists. I don’t want to be associated with racists. I like conversations about race; I don’t want every fucking thread about race to be hijacked by racists. That is not fun to me. It is depressing and upsetting.
When it dawned on me that it was just like playing Whack-A-Mole, that’s when I gave up on trying to have discussions w/ racists. That was yesterday, so we’ll see how long I can go w/o a mallet in my hand.
As an actual scientist, I get annoyed with anyone who declares actual science to be wrong and backs up their position with nothing more than statements starting “everyone knows” or “I reckon”, which is essentially what you’ve been doing. You have decided ahead of time what reality must actually be like, and desperately try to twist and skew and outright lie about the evidence to make it look like you’re right. Any actual arguments and real evidence that is brought up is dismissed with insults and scorn, rather than anything substantial.
I have not said science was wrong. I said guessing the population at contact isn’t science; it is gambling. Those schollars aren’t using scientific methods, or at least they pretend to find truths that aren’t there. Something not very strange at all in the study of the Americas, anyways, where you find the wildest claims you can imagine.
Besides, why do you get annoyed because someone complain about certain scientists? Aren’t there corrupt scientists? Weren’t scientists involved in the development of weapons such as mustard gass, the agent orange, the nuclear bomb, and the experiments with Jews during WWII?
So, please, don’t tell me science is a sacred field. We aren’t in the times of Auguste Comte anymore. Thanks God! (I am agnostic, anyways, but mainly skeptic)
