No. I’m sure there’s rare exceptions and I know a guy who always wears cowboy boots so I’ve noticed that but 99.85% of the time, it’s nope.
My dad has a ton of shoes. He was born during the depression era and apparently your shoes were a primarily indicator of wealth and status. I’m a two pair a shoes guy, and he’s told me I lost out on tech interviews because my dress shoes weren’t polished enough to see your reflection in. Meanwhile the guy interviewing me is in flip flops.
Good thing I wear beat-up tennis shoes all the time then - there’s no better way to tell you I’m a genius computer programmer.
Never have. I’ve rarely owned more than two pairs of shoes at any one time in the last 70 years. I go for comfort, not style, and really could not care less about what someone else wears, including clothing.
Same here. Though I have closer to 20 shoes rather than 40. I enjoy fashion, so I probably will look at men’s shoes from time to time depending on the situation.
Unless he’s wearing Ronald McDonald shoes or combat boots with a three piece suit, generally no.
Yes, if I need to size them up / evaluate them. If they’re wearing leather shoes, I’ll check to see if they’re polished, for instance. A yob wearing trainers is less of a danger than a yob wearing combat boots / DMs. And so on.
I voted “other” because I’m a woman, but I wanted to see the results. Really, guys, it’s nice if you acknowledge we might be around when you write polls…
Real answer: I don’t notice shoes. I rarely notice much below the arms, honestly. I once failed to notice that a guy was wearing a radio box (that he was legally required to wear) even though it was in plain sight on his otherwise bare calf. Yeah, if you are wearing lime-green sneakers with your suit, I might notice. But in general, nope.
Yep, same here. The outbreak of neon green, neon orange, eye-melting pink, etc., automatically draw my eye to them as they walk down the street.
Not because they are shoes, but because of years of paying attention to warning signs on construction sites, which are usually very brightly colored.
What’s a “yob?”
Well, the poll is seeking to discover whether men, specifically, notice shoes. Unless you’re a man, you’re not exactly under the microscope in this specific case.

You mean like The Naked Cowboy? Those boots are very noticeable. Obviously NSFW.
Is that was passes for “naked” these days?
An obnoxious, stupid, often threatening/violent young man. A thug.
Think, A Clockwork Orange.
I’m not much into shoes but I voted that I generally notice because I’m just a noticing sort of person. I get puzzled looks all the time when asked where someone is because I can describe what they wearing (“Bev? She’s in Shipping, blonde lady in a purple shirt and black jeans with black Chuck Taylors.”)
I do have more shoes than some people that have responded, but they’re more functional rather than fashion. I’ve got running shoes and lightweight racing flats because I run, motorcycle boots and motorcycle sneakers because I ride, a couple of pairs of casual sneakers, and a couple of pair of dress shoes (black and brown).
I don’t make a point to look, but I notice them sometimes. There was a guy I used to work with who wore plaid Chucks. Or look at this picture and tell me you don’t notice Teller’s shoes. I’ve got a similar pair, and they’re awesome.
I don’t even notice what other men are wearing unless it is something out of the ordinary. For instance I cannot remember now what shirt any guy at work was wearing today even though I spent hours around them. In fact it took me a moment to remember which of my shirts I was wearing.
If I saw this photo outside of this thread, I wouldn’t have noticed. Now, of course, I do.
Which one is Teller? The one with weird white on his shoes? They clash with the rest of his outfit.
I too wouldn’t have noticed the shoes (assuming I noticed the right shoes) except that this is the shoe noticing thread.
