Men! Greatest Car in the World!

Myself

The 1950 Merc- leadsleded of course with the chops doops…shaved panels, spinner whitewalls and suicide drops

Well Heath, if you’re going to allow modifications, I could make any car the “greatest” (well, maybe not a Pacer).

For bone stock machines though, the honour has to go to the Dodge Viper GTS Coupe. 450bhp V10, 0-100-0 in 12.8, 6 speaker CD, leather seats,…
What more could you possibly want?
And all for only $77K.

i need a raise.

Balancing $ v. quality…

Triumph GT-6

What on earth are you guys talking about?

Cars mystify me. I can’t fathom their popularity. As long as they go forward, I’m happy.

Heck, I don’t even know how to drive.

Bughatti

The Mini, a tiny car driven mostly in Europe. I just love those little things. I believe BMW manufactures them now.

The greatest car of all time - hmmmm I’ll make it a top 5 then.

  1. Ferrari 250 GTO (1963)
  2. Bugatti Royale (30’s)
  3. Land Rover (40’s - present !)
  4. Citroen 2CV (1948 - 1992)
  5. Peugeot 205 (1983 - 1998 and my first car, incidently…)

Sorry, no American cars although the Land Rover could be replaced with the Willy’s Overland Jeep.
As you see, I’ve also taken some ‘historical significance’ into account. Which is why the number 6 should be the T-Ford.

Pantera. The style and handling of a European supercar and the affordability and ease of modification of an American motor. It had the 351 Cleveland at first then went to the fuel injected 5.0. Sadly it is a ‘grey market’ car now. Mercury quit importing it in '73/'74. I never owned a Pantera but a gentleman let my take his for a short spin and man what a rush. Never got to 4th gear

I think the Vector was the same concept but I don’t know who did the chassis and the engine was only superficially similar the the Chevy SB. I don’t think it ever made it to production. Not sure.

If you include SUV’s I would have to say the Jeep in all it incarnations. The CJ8 had its uses also. The '66-'77 Bronco comes in a close second. The Toyota Land Cruiser before it became a 4-Door is third for me.

Trucks I would have to say Ford or Chevy and I think they’re too close to call so I would have to say Ford only because of brand loyalty. I have been very happy with the Chevy’s I’ve owned though. Each has their own quirks. I don’t like either after '87. Except the new F450 and F550. I think the F650 and F750 being pitched to the general public for RV’s is over the top.

The 1984 Chaevrolet Cavalier J-body 4-door with no options.

WTF are you doing wolfstu?

You’ve revived THREE long dead threads now. Cut it out!

How’d you find out about my shaved panels? Can you women just TELL by looking at a guy? I knew I shouldn’t have done it. Now everyone must know about my itching. I feel so ASHAMED :o

Hmmm… my pics, in no particular order:

Lambroghini Countach Anniversary Edition

Porsche 959

Lotus Turbo Esprit

Corvette ZR1

1965 to 67 Vette with a 427 and sidepipes. Just ooozes power.

Thats about all I can think of now.

I prefer the Porsche 959.

DW3, think they were at least taking orders for the Vector a few years ago at a car show I went to. Don’t know if they delivered.

Yeah, I prefer the 959 too. I forgot one though,

1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing

Pure class.

1948 Ford pickup with 1953 Mercury V-8, Mallory dual-point distributor, three two-barrel carbs, reversed wheels and a three inch dropped front axle.

1967 mustang convertable

or the original shelby cobra

Bah, what’s with all of these old cars? Get modern, people! A nice, fresh-from-the-factory 1999 model!
What?

This was ancient when it was first revived in 2001. What is it now?

Must be a classic.

For a zombie thread… a 1959 Caddy Hearse. Possibly in white with a No Ghost symbol. Reporting it, folks.

Welcome to the SDMB, ess_tee. Just to let you know, we typically don’t want threads older than 6 months to arise from the grave. This thread, of course, was built way back in '99 (with slight modifications in '01)–a bit longer than the 6 month time period.

You’re welcome to start a new thread with a link to this one if you’d like. I will close this zombie, though.
