When I was in college, living in an all-girls dorm, there was a blurb in the news saying that “on average, men think about sex seven times a day”. We stared at the TV in meditative silence until one of the other girls said “ok, I don’t get it: only seven times? I think about sex all the time!”
“Maybe that’s it, then… they have to stop thinking about sex when they sleep, that’s once, when they eat, so four times, and heck, I imagine they go to the bathroom at least three times a day.”
“Wouldn’t dreams count as thinking about sex?”
“Ah right, ok, so they can go to the bathroom four times a day.”
We figured that count of seven was about right, read that way.
Let me add that one study is not enough to prove something. I want to see multiple groups doing the same study, with the same conditions, and then no media generalities being assumed.
