Age has nothing to do with it, it all depends on the woman, and how she carries her self.
Not every man looks sexy wearing a “speedo” right?
Same thing, too many factors involved to make a blanket statement.
Can I ask for a definition of pigtails here? To me, hair gathered in a band, but otherwise hanging free, is a ponytail. Braided hair is a pigtail. I’ve heard other people refer to different configurations as pigtails, so I’m curious to know what we’re talking about here.
And personally, I think a single ponytail or a single braid can be attractive on a woman of any age, but a pair of either is definitely more suited to a child, maybe thru young teens.
I love the look of women in pigtails. It conveys a sense of playfulness. I find them very sexy. Ponytails I actually find dowdy. It’s also pretty weird that people can give haircuts age restrictions. I can’t conceive of what it is that makes that style unsuitable to adult women.
One is a ponytail. Two, they’re pigtails. You cannot have two ponytails; the number is what defines them. Doesn’t matter how they’re tied up, and long as they’re tied up somehow.
I’m 28, and I wear pigtails (or braided pigtails) at home or if I’m shopping/playing a sport. They hold my hair back better than a single ponytail; I don’t have the shorter pieces of hair in the front falling into my face. My fiance has said that he likes them, but I mostly wear them because of convenience.
Actually now that I’ve read my post it seems contradictory and I suppose I can guess what it is. It’s something in the same vein as how I assign certain attibutes towards hairstules, not haircuts. Another error. Well I have been up all night.
For me, “pigtails” has always referred to the hairstyle with the hair on either side of the head gathered into bands–therefore, always a pair of “tails.”
And I don’t find them sexy. Pigtails are fine for a little girl, and I think most people associate them with little girls. But on any woman above the age of 12, they look silly.
Pontails (i.e., hair gathered into one band at the back), on the other hand, can be kind of sexy, including the braided kind.
There’s a big difference in where you wear them too, IMO. One high up on each side of the head looks very childish. One on each side, but low down at the neck, not so much. I like pigtails personally, and wear them often in both configurations.
Braided tails also have a number of incarnations–a braided pony, braided piggies, and “pocahontas” braids (where the braid starts at the neck and is not tied off at the top) can all look very cute depending on how they’re carried.
Personally, I always wear my hair down - I didn’t spend all these years growing it to waist-length just to tie it back! As for the pigtails thing - I blame Britney Spears!
Having pigtails is one of those looks that is very difficult to look sexy with, like dungarees or lycra (spandex) leggings. But if the look is done correctly it can be very sexy. Most people should avoid such things if they wish to look sexy.
Oh Yes! Pigtails (we call them bunches!) are dead sexy. To analise why would perhaps ruin their sexyness! Mrs CM does wear them occasionaly indoors for a special treat (for me!) or as bribery (last time it cost me a £3k hoilday she wanted - worth every penny!)
They have to worn mid to high (to low is dowdy), preferably loose not braided hair.
