Merry Christmas! Whatja get?

Here’s my list!

:frowning:

I got the extended FOTR DVD set, a big posh black robe from Victoria’s Secret, some nice sweaters and long sleeved shirts, a pair of black trousers, socks, a hairdryer, a little lamp and table runner for my bedroom (I just moved rooms and it matches my new bedspread and curtains), a candle, a leather chair for my desk (I’ve been sitting on a folding metal chair for almost two years here), some candies and a big box of film, from my parents and siblings.

My grandparents gave me $50, and my grandmother suggested that I would look good in a pair of high-heeled boots like is popular right now, and I wanted some anyway so I “got” new boots from them.

My SO got me the velvet corset that I’ve been wanting the last few months, and apparently something(s?) else that I won’t get until I see him after New Year’s.

One of my managers at work gave me a little stocking with some candy and $5 gift certificates to McDonald’s. My manager that I really like but went to another store came to visit me right before I left work yesterday, and I gave him the $5 coupons because I’m on a permanent diet and don’t eat there, but he goes there all the time. I was happy that he came to visit though! One of my co-workers is buying me dinner this Friday night because I’ve bought him lunch a few times, and I’m leaving my job at the beginning of January. One of my other co-workers brought me cookies yesterday morning.

Most of the stuff I got I asked for or picked out myself (I asked for clothes because I need them, and the hairdryer). I wasn’t expecting such a nice chair, so that was a surprise. I don’t know what I’m going to do with all the candy and flavoured coffees and such, but it’s the thought that counts.

I got a 25.00 gift card for Kroger from my Aunt
An oil lamp and a nice sweater From another Aunt
a small teddy bear from LIONsob’s uncle
5 scratch lottery tickets (won 2.00) from my cousins
An angel statue from my future daughter in law.
I got to spend time with some of my family, that was the best gift of all…

From my dad, I got a new winter coat (because the one I had was a Christmas gift from them oh…about 12 or 13 years ago, I think), and a new VCR.

My oldest daughter Kiersti and her adoptive family gave us some gorgeous pillar candles and an even more gorgeous holder for them, and $50.

I was feeling a little bad, because I couldn’t get my kids as much as I would have liked to, but the stuff they did get they really, really liked. They’re still so young, though, that it doesn’t matter all that much. But then, we went to my dads, and they kids cleaned up, I’ll tell you. Oh boy. All kinds of cool stuff. They were really happy when we left for my dads. Now, they’re really REALLY happy!

Had a nice time with my family, too. That’s always the best part. And Christmas isn’t over yet, either. Still got Christmas with my mom on Saturday. We’re doing a grab-bag thing for the adults (there’ll be eight of us), but we’re all buying for the kids (there’s only five of them). It’ll be fun.

What I like best about the holiday is that my family gets along. Well, not my mom & my dad, but they divorced when I was a teenager. But I and my siblings all get along well, and we get along well with our parents. I feel lucky. Very, very lucky.

I also got some Spongebob Squarepants socks, from my good friend **DAVEW0071. ** They’re awesome!

I would like to state that Mr. Ujest has brought us into the age of the milleneum and we now have ::::::::drumroll::::::::: cable internet access.
No more ten minute waits for a page to open.

With all the extra time on my hand I won’t know what to do!

A phone card with 240 minutes
Planetary design pajamas
animal print slippers
money
DVD player and several DVDs
candy
purple glitter lamp and S’Mores ornament from Secret Santa
souvenir pennant for the Angels/World Series
hair decorations
Scratcher–a three dollar winner!

A Romertopf tortilla warmer
A vanity mirror
A toaster oven bake set
A Japanese ginger jar and set of tea cups (garage sale find - may be very authentic)
A dozen iced tea glasses.
Assorted kitchen goodies.
Three ceramic balls (blue and white patterns - I got blue balls  )

But do you want to know what the best thing I’ve gotten today is?

I got a **roaring, snoring baby Norbert !!! **

It’s so cute when it snores, too.

Oh I didn’t add one gift, last June my best friend was told she had cancer and only had months to live. They were wong, she died July 18th, she gave me my gift for this year when I last saw her about 2 weeks before she died and made me promise not to open it until Christmas. I opened it last night. It was a musical water globe with two polar bear figures playing inside it. The song it plays is You’ve got a friend. I miss you Charlene !

From my parents: a book called Century: A History in Photographs.

From my brother: a book called Fargo Rock City. (it’s sort of like a journey through the world of heavy metal / hair bands of the 80s)

From Christine, a family friend: a box of almond cakes.

From my friends Denise, Brian, and Julie: some caramel chocolates.

From my friend Yazmine: an artificial plant.
My sister has yet to get me my gift: I suspect she’s waiting till tomorrow to see if what I want (the latest Bathroom Reader) is on sale or not. Then again, she spent a lot on my brother when she got him the Neil Young DVD Rust Never Sleeps. Oh well, it’s not aobut how much you spend… though I did spend $20.61 on her decorative wall tile with a pig on it.

The biggest gift…all’s well with me and mine…health, security, relative happiness, what more could I ask for? Okay, well the diamond earrings from my kids and a beautiful gold neck chain from Mr. Tupug was nice, too.

Big gift from parents was received over Thanksgiving weekend when they were visiting—a ReplayTV, which I LOVE!

Aside from that, I spent Christmas Eve with a friend and Christmas day here at home alone. Parents gave me a B&N Gift certificate, Body Shop GC, scarf, and lovely sheepskin blanket (which the cats like). Haven’t opened the gift from the BF yet, as I’m waiting for him to call so we can do it together over the phone. Canadian friend sent me DVDs of Spirit and Men With Brooms (to help my unhealthy American obsession with curling). Other than that, I’ve been more concerned with everyone else liking what I got for them, especially since I haven’t been able to see their faces when they opened them. Family seemed fairly pleased over the phone (and surprisingly, Dad seemed the most thrilled with his $10 plug-it-into-the-car-lighter car vacuum…go figure!).

So long as my mother doesn’t remember it, I also find it to be remarkably wonderful.

But if I ever have to wake up to the sound of static crackling in my ear accompanied by the sound of my mom going “Time to get upppppp!!!” in her “I’m so sweet, you can’t kill me for this” voice again, I will simply become homicidal. Sleepppp…

Major bummer, you two. I hope tomorrow is a better day for you both!

To use a Scotticher-ism…

HUGGLES!

I got a 25 in TV. I wanted a TV with audio out jacks. My hearing isn’t very good and I wanted to be able to add extra speakers. It seems that isn’t the easiest option to find. But it does have Closed Captioning, so I’ll be able to catch missed dialogue. I got a beautiful pale yellow cable knit cotton turtleneck, a black belt, a pair of winter riding gloves, a horse T-shirt, a huge box of dog treats and toys and collars, two resin dogs, an absolutely wonderful set of bakeware from Costco (10-piece, professional weight carbon steel), a wool zip-front sweater vest and a booklight. I think that’s it.

StG

I got a desk chair, a really neat clock for the kitchen, a handi stitch, a teddy bear from my daughter and a jewelery box from my son and a box of my favorite candy.

I got spoiled this year.

Four books, two fancy pairs of socks, a Bobbi Brown lip gloss set, a Spongebob Squarepants calendar, a Yankee Candles gift set, a shirt with the “northern” cats from rathergood.com, a new scarf, black pearl earrings, a Sephora gift certificate, a rolling suitcase…

…and cash!

I am very very happy.

I got:
a new bicycle
earrings
a giant copy of “The Saggy Baggy Elephant” (my favorite book at age 2)
The Great Muppet Caper on DVD
clothes
a travel mug
flamingo socks

From my sister: The orange one are you reading this, Feynn? and one of those little useless pillows which says “I smile because you are my sister. I laugh because there’s nothing you can do about it.”

From my parents - well, really, my mother: 50 bucks to B&N. And season tickets to a speaker series (25 Feb through 2 June) at Orchestra Hall featuring Julie Nixon Eisenhower, Kum Phuc, Mavis Leno, Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fischer, and Priscilla Presley.

From my brother: It was for the whole family, really. He bought a portrait package from a local photographer, and sometime this winter we’re all going to go in and break some really expensive cameras. <g>

From gramma ‘n’ grampa: 25 in cash. sigh I don’t mind the bucks - in truth, I need it - but…they’re so damn PRACTICAL.

From grampa: A bottle of cheap (McMaster’s Canadian) whiskey. Good fit - I gave him four boxes of Copenhagen
