Michael Cohen's House testimony

Thanks.

And, damn! I wanted more horrorshow!

Was it horrorshow, me droog?

And that’s the main difference with Watergate. With those hearings, we learned new stuff and public opinion shifted. With these hearings, nothing new was revealed. Maybe there was some extra corroboration but that’s it. No one’s mind was changed.

Yeah, the republicans didn’t get anything out of the testimony.

“So, you said he’s a crook and a liar? Anything new? We knew that when we voted for him.”

Only saw excepts, but would it be accurate to summarize the Republican strategy to discredit Cohen as:

“You’re obviously a liar. You must be lying about Trump doing nasty stuff. We know this because Trump is a scumbag and you worked for him for 10 years. You have no credibility!”

I’m a little more sanguine about today’s events. Sure, it’s doubtful than any congresscritter’s view changed. But in a larger sense, there’s a qualitative difference between a scoop in Buzzfeed that says Trump’s a scumbag, and sworn testimony in Congress broadcast live on all channels saying Trump’s a scumbag.

And: thank God for the midterms.

I’m just curious if the White House scheduled the North Korea “summit” to coincide with this in a failed attempt to own the news cycle, or if Pelosi successfully did that to Trump.

So, fuck Jim Jordan. I wanted to email him. I guess I’ll sit down and write a proper letter tomorrow

Must be some of that there 12D chess we’ve been hearing about all this time.

I wonder where Nancy learned it.

Fuckin A.

There was also some focus on him getting a book/movie deal for his story, which was never resolved, and whether his testimony here was in order to earn lieniency for his sentence. That was their three-prong counter-attack.

I’m a resident of Jamie Raskin’s district. Quite pleased with my congressional representation today.

I’m a resident of Mark Meadows’s district.

:frowning:

None of this changes much. Americans have accepted that they have a lying, bigoted shithead as president. Again, the simple analysis in the minds of most idiot voters is this: if I have a job, the president is doing his job; if I don’t, he’s not.

That’s really what it comes down to. President Trump will only be removed from office if he is perceived as being a complete and total fuck up who’s destroying the country. That’s a hard conclusion to reach when the stock market is still near an all-time high and unemployment are at all-time lows.

Gym Jordan had a strong lead for most of the day in the category of biggest douche canoe, but Meadows made a strong showing towards the end. I call it a tie.

I watched the whole thing.

I loved the hints about what Jr and Eric and Ivana probably did, and it bolsters my prediction that Jr will be indicted next… and maybe soon.

My favorite part was probably when whichever lady (I was listening on NPR at the time), either AOC or Pressley, suggested subpoenaing the tax returns. I know it wasn’t a sincere question, a “golly gee, you reckon we should get 'em?” But was it laying the groundwork for when it inevitably happens or was it a MUCH better subtle threat than Gaetz made? “Resign or we’re coming for the taxes, orange man.”

Remember way back when the 'pubbies were in a panic about their ridiculous idea that Obama would change the constitution by [del]fiat[/del] executive order so he could remain president? I wonder how many of those very same 'pubbies will seriously advance the idea that Tan the Conman do that for himself.

You are giving them too much credit. Those who are perfectly fine with a lying bigoted shithead as president are those who either are lying bigoted shitheads themselves or those who aspire to being such. See my post here:

Of course. That’s all they’ve got. Meanwhile Cohen has bank records, checks, etc.

THIS.

That is fraud.
